Hello folks!

I have a Marlin 336 in 30-30 and wanting it to be my basic deer huting rifle scoped and a rifle I could also carry when scouting without a scope. I am looking for standard scope rings but that can be removed from the scope mount without having to always zero when replacing it on the scope mount. Oh, I have a weaver scope mount.

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You can use quick detachable rings on this mount:

Warne, Leupold and Burris make quick detachable rings for the Weaver style bases.

I've had good luck with Leupold quick detach rings. I have a little scope for a Marlin 1894. Take them off, put them back, shots hit the same place.

I have the Leupold QRW rings on my M1A. Work great, and when the scope is detached and reattached, it seems to be within 1 MOA of where it was zeroed before. They are great for a rifle that you like to shoot both optics and irons with.

For QD mounts Iíve got:

The Leupoldís were the least expensive and hold/return to zero just about as well as the others. The key is to adopt a routine, and remount them the same way each time. IE push FWD and left while tightening.

I've got the Leupold quick detacables/relase as well on my 30-30 lever action and I use a 2.5x Leupold scout scope. It works well and POA/POI only changes by 1" at most. If I had to do it over again, I'd likley have used regular scope rings. I can't think of situation where I need to get them off that quickly. Regular rings come off quick enough with a screwdriver or coin.

If you carry a Swiss Army Knife or multi-tool of some sort you can remove and replace any of the Weaver style rings almost as quickly as the true QD rings. They may not return to zero close enough to make a 1000 yard target shooter happy, but you'll never notice the difference on a 30-30 at 100 yards.

You can spend $50 for some of the better rings if you want. They are quicker and more convient, but work no better.
