Ammotogo has some 38 Special tracer ammo listed but no technical or manufacturer specs of the product itself. Are these old milsurp tracers that might not work, reloads, or what?
I already know that it is not by SBR, anybody know?
They sound like a lot of fun.

I didn't think a handgun caliber could generate enough velocity to "light up" a tracer but i guess I was wrong. A link would have been nice... http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/index.php/cName/tracer-ammo-tracer-pistol-ammo

Ah, sorry about that.
Found out they are handloads..apparently loaded a bit 'warm' too.

Is it the velocity that 'lights up' a tracer? I thought it was the propellant that sets it off.

It is the propellant that ignites a tracer compound (ie, magnesium compound) that is usually sealed in the base of the projectile.

As OldCavsoldier said velocity has nothing to do with lighting up a tracer. i've seen tracers in 45 acp, 38 spl, 9mm parabellum, 22 LR and other calibers.

Don't know how effective these are yet, but if you reload, you get 85 9mm treatments for $20.

Non-flammable, and can only be viewed from the shooter's side.
