Hello everyone, I have a question about cutting the cases for my 9 mm competition pistol.. Is it worth for the accuracy? Too much effort for very little? I looked at the RCBS or the Lyman case prep mate, which one you would take? I'll wait for your advice. Cutting 9 mm cases for 50 meters target could make some difference for additionel points.......I'm a grand master and i want to win the game........
For the good function of a pistol cases having same lenght is more reliable?
Thank for your advices

You mean trimming for length? It sounds like you are one of the rare individuals that could/can benefit from and see empirical improvement from any and all tweaks. almost.. No brainer.. do it.

How is a grand master different from a master and or open class? What do you shoot in and against whom? Probably should have asked that first.

yes trimming for lenght. Grand master is a higher class that mean on a match of 1500 you have to shoot 1476 and more, so the points at these level are very important to win, sometime just an x with the same score can make difference.
Thank for your answer

What you need to do is trim 50 and bench rest the gun to test them against un-trimmed ones.

Personally, I doubt you wil be able to see any differance, or at least not enough to make trimming them all worthwhile.

If you are shooting mixed brass, I know you won't.

Sorting the brass into the same headstamp lots will have more effect.

Al, If your at the level you would gain more in sorting head stamps, and keep the reload count the same. You could try trimming a few and see if can can see the difference. But I think if you sort by length will be a good simulated test run. I don't know what bullet your using but I have found the Hornady XTP to be the most accurate out of my gun using WST. If your getting vertical stringing that just gets down to consistent charges.. But your probably splitting hairs.

So you're shooting PPC? I would not trim those cases. Have you shot a 1500 yet?

It will standardize the seating depth and crimp (in cases with the same characteristics/headstamp).

Sorting by headstamp also standardizes the expansion in the chamber and the crimp.

NEW cases trimmed for same length would be as good as it gets, if you and your pistol are better than your loads can give. Test new Starline trimmed cases out of a ransom rest and see.

I suspect rcmodel has it right.
