Im here in Ca and I am just trying to get an estimate of a fair market price for my M1911 that was made in 1942-3. The gun is in pretty good shape with only some wear on the blueing and no rust at all. Works flawlessly and has not been heavily used.

Thanks.

Sorry about the sideways pic. Couldn't change it from my phone.

Buddy, I just picked up a WWI 1918 and from what I have learned is this. They will need a whole bunch more pictures of the gun stripped down, and of the other side including the barrel. I'm sure you know the grips are not original, so that's one negative.

^+1 1911 and 1911A1 pricing is its own animal. Originality is an exponential multiplier. You might have a mix-n-match with run of the mill value or you could have an all serial number matching Colt's simply begging for grips, and your value easily double.

Its time to do some homework.

Will need close-up pics of markings on frame and slide, both sides. With GI guns, it really matters.

I will work on that today hopefully, but for the mean time, my dad tells me that aside from the grips it is all original and he has some paperwork that released the pistol from the Army. Any chance you guys could give a potential range of value?

What they said. The people who will know need a lot more information. Your dad saying "it's all original" could mean he hasn't changed anything, except the grips. Doesn't mean an armorer didn't switch out the slide, barrel, etc. No one is giving you a value because you haven't given us anything to work with.
