Please join the ISRA now if you are not already a member. Our gun rights in this state are under assault by Chicago politicians once again :fire: (not that it ever ended). Here is the link http://www.isra.org/. Even if you are not an Illinoisan please help our cause and donate if you are able. Check out some of the recent issues as reported on the ISRA website especially Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanual's $65 handgun tax proposal that he plans to take before the general assembly. Thank you.

What scares me the most is that Rahmbo has more power to get something like this done than Daley could've ever had. I just renewed my ISRA membership 2 weeks ago, and I'm trying to recruit more. When good men do nothing, evil prevails and Rahmbo is one EVIL S.O.B.

Quinn's in on the action, too - although Quinn doesn't like Rahm's plan, he's got some of his own - banning high capacity assault weapons (what an original idea):

The power drunk politicians in Illinois need a wake up call. Let's be the ones who make that call.

Don't forget about www.illinoiscarry.com . The forum there is the single best source I've found for news on what's going on, and who to call, when. The ISRA lobbyist and pretty much all of those in the forefront of the push for CC in IL are active there.

after looking at the gun laws in Illinois and how gunnies are vilified I have to wonder if the majority of people in Illinois really don't care.

I'm orginally from NYC and I can relate.

Until you get that attitude turned around gun laws are going nowhere but down.

NRA-ILA LEGISLATIVE ALERT FOR ILLINOIS RESIDENTS

Illinois: Chicago Mayor Proposes Statewide Handgun Registry

Contact your state Legislators TODAY and urge them to oppose this blatant attack on your gun rights!

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D) is trying to advance the anti-gun legacy of the man he replaced, former Mayor Richard Daley (D), by proposing a statewide handgun registry. Emanuel is no stranger to anti-gun policies, of course. He served in the anti-gun administration of President Bill Clinton (D), followed by several years in Congress where he consistently earned an F-rating from the NRA-PVF. Before being elected Mayor of Chicago, he was Chief of Staff to anti-gun President Barrack Obama (D).

Emanuel’s registration scheme would cost law-abiding gun owners $65, presumably for each handgun, which would add yet another superfluous bureaucratic fee a law-abiding citizen must pay before they are allowed to exercise their Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Illinois residents must already acquire a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card before they may lawfully own ANY firearm, and nobody may lawfully acquire a new firearm in Illinois without first showing a valid FOID card.

While this proposal has yet to be finalized and introduced in Springfield, the NRA will strongly oppose any effort to impose a firearms registration scheme. When asked about this proposal, pro-gun state Representative Brandon Phelps (D-118) told the Chicago Tribune, “Number one, my first response was, ‘I don’t know why you’re trying to do this statewide because we don’t want your policies on us downstate.’” Phelps, who represents a southern Illinois district, went on to say, “Number two, it’s never going to work. They’re trying to go after criminals. They’re never going to register their guns. They won’t pay the fee.” The NRA agrees with Representative Phelps, especially when he refers to the proposal as a “slap in the face of every law-abiding gun owner.” Please take a moment to contact your state Representative and Senator to tell them to reject any firearms registration scheme proposed by Rahm Emanuel! Contact information for your state Senator can be found by clicking here and state Representative contact information can be found here. In addition, please continue to voice your objections to House Bills 1294, 1599 and 1855, which the NRA previously reported on here. These anti-gun bills could be considered at any time.

I joined ISRA today, because of this nonsense. I'd been meaning to, but with this new level of attack from the mayor of Chicago and our Governor, it was time to act. Also emailed all of my Congress folks, and Governor Quinn as well.

My wife is from Southern Illinois......good people down there. Being a Missouri Boy makes me wonder how Crook County (Chicago) ever took control of the other 101 counties in the state.

Just my humble opinion, but if "x" amount of citizens (500k +) went to Springfield to stand-up for their American rights, things might start going in the right direction. Again, JMHO.......

The biggest problem Illinois has is Chicago politics. We have to make sure that Quinn does not get a second term. We must make sure to keep his tax increase, and breaking his campaign promise while doing so, in the face of those that supported this clown. That's just one of his many broken promises too. We could more than likely keep him from being re-elected without even mentioning his anti-gun attitude. Quinn won by the slimmest of margins so everyone who opposes his views (and any other politician for that matter) must register and vote.

We're stuck with Quinn for a while, but he doesn't have enough votes in the legislature to pass anything really bad. We ALMOST have the votes to pass a veto-proof CCW bill. Keep pestering your legislators, and work to get rid of those that oppose it.

Right now, I think we face more threat from the White House than we do from Gov. Jello in Springfield Chicago.

Federal Judge Dismisses Illinois' Carry Case Moore v. Madigan

Federal District Judge Sue E. Meyerscough(GunAuction.com) -- Federal District Judge Sue E. Meyerscough has dismissed a challenge to Illinois statutes that prohibit the carrying of loaded firearms outside the home for personal protection.

Judge Myerscough denied a preliminary injunction against two laws in Illinois that make it a crime to carry loaded firearms outside the home for personal protection. Instead, she supported the state's motion to dismiss the case.

The case of Moore v. Madigan is named for individual plaintiff Michael Moore and defendant Lisa Madigan in her capacity as Illinois Attorney General. The litigants included Moore, other private citizens Charles Hooks, Peggy Fechter, and Jon Maier, and gun-rights groups Second Amendment Foundation and Illinois Carry.

Meyerscough is an Obama administration appointee who formerly served on the Illinois State Appellate Court.

In her ruling, Judge Meyerscough wrote, "This Court finds that the Illinois 'Unlawful Use of Weapons' and 'Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon' statutes do not violate Plaintiffs' Second Amendment rights. The United States Supreme Court and the Seventh Circuit have recognized only a Second Amendment core individual right to bear arms inside the home. Further, even if this Court recognized a Second Amendment right to bear arms outside of the home and an interference with that right, the statutes nonetheless survive constitutional scrutiny."

Yep, and this was somewhat expected. The appeal was filed the next (or maybe even the same) day. Some lawyer named Alan Gura.....you guys ever heard of him?

This will almost certainly wind up at the SCOTUS

(BTW, Meyerscough was appointed by Obama....)

It's all about the numbers. You've got 8 million or so people that live in and around Chicago and many of those are democrats. Unfortunately, everyone else that lives in Illinois outside of that area are stuck.

I read an article where a downstate state congressman was proposing a bill to make cook county separate from the rest of the state.

This NEEDS to be done. Since it never will I will be paying down my mortgage a little more so I can sell my house (at somewhat of a profit) and leave with a good down payment on a home in Kentucky.
