Receiving cancelled tax stamp?

When the tax stamp is mailed back, is it mailed to the dealer or the purchaser? Just wondering if I should be checking the mailbox or calling the dealer.

What do you mean a "cancelled" stamp?

From 1 (you "manufacture" a SBR or suppressor) goes to you, form 4 (transfer) goes back to the dealer, then you get to pick up the item and the returned form.

Sorry for the confusion, new to the NFA world of terminology. Wally you answered my question. I mailed in 2) form 4's and a form 1. Mid November I mailed in a form 4, then the next week mailed in a form 4 and a form 1. Now I wonder if when my form 1 is returned, will the form 4's also be back.(I know there should be a "?", but I am certain that no one would know the answer to this, except my auditor.)

When your transfer tax stamp comes back it will indeed be "canceled" after it's affixed to the form. (Note the writing on the stamp indicating it's canceled.)
You pose a great question. In the old(er) days when the Form 1's and 4's were separated alphabetically, unless you and your dealer have similar names, then you would likely have two different examiners doing your forms. But now that we are set up by state, you would have the same examiner. If they were submitted at the same time, in the same package, I would *guess* they *should* come back at the same or very close to the same time.
Our Local dealer gets an envelope every month or so with many Form 4's in them, so they are batched to a certain degree. But they *should* come back very close together, I would think.

Form 1 is anyone's guess.
If I had to bet, both 4's will come back at the same time. I send out forms across weeks and get them back in a giant stack.
