Welcome to THR, houdeani.

It's a big job if you don't have the equipment and knowledge to do it. Prices for doing the job will vary widely depending on actual customer needs and geographical area. It may run from $150-$500 plus the cost of the barrel, depending on what you want done.
With labor prices continuing to rise, sometimes it's cheaper to buy another rifle.

If you are going to use a take-off barrel be sure to get it checked out first, I have some take off barrels from new rifles and have found the rifling doesn't come back to the freebore consitently. I was going to sell them, but, after checking them I found them (4out of 5) to be bad, I wouldn't sell someone what I consider a bad barrel. I just got one back that I sent to Rem. they replaced it with a new rifle. You can make a chamber cast to see if the rifling is good. Several customer's have had the same thing happen to them, seems like it's on the later made one's. As far as the barrel swap if you have access to a lathe it's easy. Having it done in my area it cost $125 and up, then anything else like blueing, bedding, re-crowning will add to your cost
