I'm torn in deciding which shotgun to purchase. I like the Browning Auto's in 12 Gauge, but also like the Winchester 101 and Weatherby Orion O/U. I already have a Browning pump in 20 gauge, that is okay for upland birds. Which of these shotguns would you all suggest?

the Weatherby made by SKB is an issue as SKB is out of business, the 101, if it is built to the same stock dimensions as the original beat most folks to death, the browning? Which one - the A5 is a long action and not something most folks are used to

In short, if it works for you, GREAT! go with that one; otherwise know each's limitations and go into your search with your eyes and mind open - there are others out there also worthy of consideration if these do not work out for you

Never heard that about the 101 before. Obviously I'm one of the lucky ones they fit - for my money, they are outstanding guns...

Current Winchester 101's are one of the best deals out there in O/U. They dont beat folks to death. I believe it comes with shims

BTW Browning is bringing back the a5. Exactly what model Browning Semi? If its a current model Maxus or Silver or older gneration Gold that would be my first choice with the 101 a very close second.

Now if its an older Browning auto my choice would be 101, Browning and then the Weatherby.

They aren't truly bringing back the a5 though. It shares the "hump" of the a5 but not much more. It's an inertia gun instead of a long action gun....2 totally different animals. Seems sort of odd they would do something like that. Maybe they should have called it the a6? the a5 has a pretty big following to this day and some people are getting some good money on the used market for them. They aren't paying top dollar simply because it has the hump on the back of the receiver. I like Browning but it doesn't make a lot of sense. The hump was there to facilitate the action, not for looks.
