I got a Blackhawk "compact slide" leather holster from my local gun store on Saturday, got it home and was messing around with it and fitting a magazine in it to attempt to break it in(it's freaking TIGHT!), and somehow in the ordeal managed to rip a couple stitches from where the belt loop attaches to the mag-pouch area. I know it was my fault but thought I'd call to see what it would cost for them to repair...
Well I called Blackhawk yesterday... the lady on the phone was very nice to deal with(I can't remember the name... I'm terrible about that). I basically told her that I bought it on Saturday, and when trying to fit a magazine in the pouch to break it in, I ripped a stitch or two where the belt loop attaches to the holster itself. I asked how much it would cost to repair, she said that it sounds like it ripped way too easily and didn't sound like typical Blackhawk product quality and gave me the information needed to return it. She apologized for the product defect/difficulty w/ the product/whatever the case may be, and I told her not to worry about it, the customer service more than made up for it!
So Blackhawk gets a big thumbs up from me, it's nice having a company that backs their product... and even cooler is they are based out of Norfolk, VA... I grew up in VA Beach about 30min away(3 hours if some idiot wrecks in the tunnel... you know what I mean if you're from there :p).
I'll follow up in a few weeks/month or so with my impressions of the holster itself after I've properly broken it in and worn it out some, though I think just wearing it around the house, I think the mag pouch is more in-the-way than it is helpful, at least when being worn around the 3-4 o'clock position, but that will take some experimenting on my part.
Either way Blackhawk will be getting some more business from me in the future, I'm eyeing up their 3-slot pancake holster online as I type this.
Thought some of you guys might like to hear about my experience with them.
