I see posts all the time about duplicating the BB 38 Special +P 158gr LSWCHP, but I haven't seen much discussion about duplicating their line of Short Barrel Low Flash 357 Magnum loads - available in 125gr, 140gr and 158gr.

These seem like great products, and I love how BB publishes actual velocities out of varying length guns.

So, any speculation on a powder that would mimic these characteristics? I assume it must be a fast to mid-speed powder, with flash suppressants. Seems like Ramshot Silhouette would be a candidate to be similar, but Ramshot only publishes data with Zip, True Blue and Enforcer for 357 Mag. Not sure why they skip Silhouette? Their burn table has them much faster than their competitors place them and they have them very close in characteristics, and faster than Unique, HS6 and even AA5.
Not looking for Max power, just a good flash suppressed mid-range 357 Mag load for a 2.25" SP101.

For low-flash mid-range .357 loads... IMR SR-4756.

Other candidates... No.7 and Universal.

Use No.5 if you want big fireballs.

Indeed. To the lo-flash list, add HS-6, my fave for the 357SIG, and for fireballs add 800-X.

SR 4756 has been a favorite of mine for this role. To me, though you are describing a 38/44 HS load which is my favorite and I have done a bunch of testing on it. 2400 and 4756 work best for the 38/44 but in 357 magnum, 2400 is a little slow for midrange loads.

Yeah, 2400 is going to be a flame thrower of unburnt powder out of a mid-range 357 from a 2" barrel.

I think it needs to be a faster powder than 2400, more of a mid-range powder. I'm thinking True Blue, or VV 3N37 or Silhouette, but don't have first hand experience with them.
