Don't have any problems but I do have a few Sig P226 15 rd magazines and the thought came to mind...

Of course. ;)
Basically the ban is just on newly manufactered mag bodies. Legally you can even replace a preban mag body with a new one.
Pretty stupid isn't it? Gotta love far reaching and intentionally vague laws.

You can buy and replace all the components of a pre-ban magzine, no problem. Even buying new hi-cap mag bodies is no problem, you just can't use them to make NEW magazines... the total number of magazines before and after has to stay constant.
Pretty nutty.

So, what's to keep someone from saying they had them beforehand?

If you are smart, paranoid, or any mix of the two you would keep the cracked or broken, unassembled pre-ban mag bodies as proof.

Nothing, but if you get caught, please don't use the prison PC to post a "Please help me get out of jail!" thread here. ;)
Like goalie just said, it's probably a good idea to keep the old ones if you buy a quantity of replacement bodies (some people intentionally smash them up and keep them).

Wasn't planning on going out and doing anything stupid. Hell, three hi cap mags is plenty enough for me for that one pistol. Now, if you think I'd be willing to trade my commission for a P226 mag, I've got some property I'd like to talk to you about! :D

I think that MecGar and a number of other companies will FLOOD the market with high and extended capacity magazines as well as standard (now considered LE only) sized magazines. The Anti-gun zealouts really cut their own throats on the ban by making it too extreme too quick. Had they said, "We want to ban anything over 15 rounds" not as many would have complained. Or if they would have banned semi-auto rifles with less than 20" barrels, or if they had done something to work WITH the manufacturers, they would have squeezed it by the lazy pro-gunners. Instead, they pissed off hunters and sportsmen by making their guns 'assault weapons.' It's a darned good thing they don't have a clue how we think.

Wolff makes extra power (10%) magazine springs for just about every magazine made. I especially recommend them for any magazine you add an extension to.
