I think you mean big bear not beer. Lol
And yes it is a big bear. And a good looking mule deer. Congratulations.

Congrats!

What's the tape on the bears leg for? Is that were you tagged him or did you give him an IV?:)

Wow that is a big black bear. Not overly fat, either. Just *big*. Are you going to make a rug out of the hide? Should be pretty impressive.

What's the tape on the bears leg for?

So he can get back into the beer hall.

Thank you everyone. You made my day with your positive comments. It was a Remington semi auto .308 woodmaster made in the USA! It is going to be a full body mount.

What range were they taken? I've been looking for an excuse to get a bigger rifle but I'm partial to .308's. Nice animals, btw.

Deer was 390 ish yards. Bear was around 100 yards. I use the 168 TTSX SSA

SWEET! My Dad just got back last month from Alabama, took a "whatever kind of deer they have in Alabama" with his early 70's vintage 742 in 30-06. He used old Federal SP from ~1986 that I bought on sale back in the day - nowadays we have to use non-lead like the Barnes you used. Good bullets, in my experience - looks like your results are fantastic.

Did you have any trouble getting the bullets seated in 308? I had to settle the Varget charges I used with my tumbler to make room for the longer Barnes.

Good size for your bear by the way, my Dad took a CA black bear 2 years ago, too dang big for my taste, 600+ is too heavy to put in the truck easily. Still tasted great, though.

Congrats!
Regards,
Brian in CA

Picture proof that the .308 Winchester can take care of business, you don`t need a huge azz big bore to get the job done ! Congratulations looks like a great hunt.............

Nice bear I love the head on guy. A big bear has that pug nosed look very nice. And of course the .308 is an awesome caliber for light skinned light boned stuff like black bear and deer. When you use TSX bullets you make it an even more effective penetrater and killer. I also use the 168 gr TSX bullet in the .308.

Everyone, thank you. People kept asking why I would use anything less than a .338 or .300 mag for bear....
