I am scheduled to pick up a new PPQ in .40 S&W tomorrow morning but have concerns. I have read all of the rave reviews regarding the 9mm primarily. I read a brief mention this morning that there have been "issues" with the .40 cal version. :uhoh:

Please share any info you have about the 40 cal PPQ.

Take a deep breath........calm down.

You don't even have your gun yet, so why in the world worry about......nothing? These are relatively new guns to the market, so sit back and enjoy the ride. Plus, S&W supports it with a lifetime warranty. The warranty is in writing.

I‘ve been on the Walther Forums pretty regularly and haven’t read of any systemic issues with either the 9mm or .40.

You might want to check them out:

Did a quick Google search for “Walther PPQ Issues” and “Walther PPQ Problems” and didn’t find much other than your post here and on the SIG forum asking about problems.

I've heard of zero problems but there will be issues of one sort or another. It always happens. But it doesn't mean you will experience any.

I haven't heard of a single problem with the PPQs, and the P99s weren't a problem gun either.

As far as help goes, I've heard clonazepam works pretty well, but that's between you and your doctor. Just kidding, but really breathe easy, the gun will be excellent, you will not have buyer's remorse, and you will greatly enjoy it at the range.

There was no specific issue mentioned. It was on the PPQ thread on the Walther forum.

If I believed half of what I read on forums I wouldn't be shooting anything. Because everybody knows Glocks will kb!, and 1911's never run right. Good thing I bought my Kimber before I knew Kimbers were MIM-filled junk and that 1911's always need to be tuned.

I have a .40 and have not had any issues. I have 2 friends with them also and no issues. I'm also on the Walther forums and I really haven't heard of any major problems. I think you'll be happy with the choice you made.

I have the dreaded PPS in .40 and haven't had an problems with it, despite the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth about the model on various forums. Enjoy your gun!

Ditto, I want a PPQ also and I'm trying to decide whether to get .40 or 9mm.

Post some pics and a range report with your new PPQ. I'm sure you will be very satisfied with it.

I've got the PPQ in .40S&W No issues for me, although it may be more prone to "limp wristing" that most pistols. I was helping two new shooters decide what to buy by letting them try a variety of my 9mm pistols that they might be interested it -- Glock, SIG P226, S&W M&P, Taurus 24/7, Kahr CW9 and since I'd just got it, I brought along the PPQ. They had no issues with the others but each had several stovepipes with the PPQ whereas I didn't.
