First of all, thanks to everyoen at THR. I've been lurking for a while, and have found the info here very, very helpful on many levels.

So to get to the point.
I took my Astra A-90 9mm out yesterday (along with the great new Ruger SR-22, fantastic little pistol)

After a few rounds in with the A-90, something wasn't right. Decocker was stuck, and trigger and hammer wobbly.

So I cleared it and took it home, and promptly took it apart.

The hammer strut had snapped in half, about 1/2 way down.

I think I located one (for an A-100 but they say it should be the same), and will order it and replace. What i'm wondering is if there are any other parts I should be looking at to replace. I see where the strut broke, but the larger question at hand is "why". It sheared off, but is not bent.

Everything in there looks OK to me. Nothing bent, burred, gouged, or deep wear marks. I pressed th hammer spring gude up and down with a screwdriver, and once it seats, it's smooth in operation ( I thought if it bound up that could cause the break)

The pistol has less that 500 rounds through it.

Here's a link to the diagraim, It's under Parts> Astra.A100. And the part that broke is #107.

Thanks in advance.

Probably just a defective part.
Heat treating error, etc.

The Spanish guns sometimes have such things.

I have an Astra Constable .22 that broke the firing pin the first week I owned it.

I made another one out of drill rod and it's still going strong.

That was in 1970.
