I'm looking to give a friend a chronograph as a gift. Can anybody suggest a fairly decent chronograph for under $150-200.00? Any brands to avoid?
Primary use will be for handgun loads, rifle loads on occasion. I haven't purchased a chronograph for personal use in years and am not too familiar with the newest models.

Competition Electronics "Pro Chrono Digital" is a reliable unit at a good price. If it's a "GOOD" friend, then getting the optional remote read-out and control unit makes it much easier to use on a public range.

Has anyone used the RCBS AmmoMaster Chronograph. Bass Pro has it for $139.99, it looks decent but there aren't any reviews about it.

+2 on the Competition Electronics "Pro Chrono Digital"

I've had mine for about 2 years.
Just tell the friend to remember to turn it off when finished or he'll be buying lotsa 9v batteries.

I'm also using the Pro Chrono Digital. I don't have the remote control unit for it though which would be a welcome addition. They used an LCD display on the front rather than LED which means that even at short distances I have trouble reading the numbers. I does store the values though so if you can't read them you can scroll through all the shots once you pick it back up.
