I just finished my 336SC refinish project. I bought it from Cabelas last spring for $199. It was badly pitted, just short of a barn gun. I made the mistake of smoothing the internals before I finished it, got some alum ox in there from blasting and it roughed things up again. I wanted to do everything here so I scratched the idea of bluing and parkerizing because I didnt want the chemicals around our little one so I ordered some Duracoat Parker, with extra flatner. I got a couple of dings in there from reassembly but they are just touch ups. Couple of cool things I found. Mine was made in March 1952 with standard ballard rifling in 35Remington. The the gun was overall dark including the front sight when I got finished blasting I found there was a copper insert to reflect light at the top. It was never visible before. I left it in white until I figure out what Im going to do with the sights. I'm not a fan of them as so eventually they will go. Also on the underside of the lever loop the original owner had etched his name. I went extra light on the blasting to preserve that. Its no show piece but should be a good truck and occasional deer gun. Still working on ideas for the stock.

Very nice!
Try Formby's Furniture REFINISHER. The stuff kind of melts the original finish and allows you to remove some yet leave some on. Then, if you want, you can put several finish coats of something over that (in satin, I would think, to eliminate any gloss).

A brass colored Skinner Peep would look great on her.

I believe the 'original finish' should be hand rubbed Boiled Linseed...

The gun is looking good.
An oil finish would mook great on the stocks.
Here is a link to my sticky at SRF on hou to do a BLO finish with an oil scrub.
