Just got a G30 and then started looking at the XDM
hoping i didnt make a mistake
, was looking for a plastic .45 that i can get all covered in mud
snow and freezin rain that I can wash out in the sink ,
then blow it out with a blow nozzel in my garrage . put some oil on it and
swab it out ,,, ready for another day, I have and shoot 1911's
My wife shoots a Micro campact and loves it ,
and i have a thing for any kind of 1911 styles,
I like the feel of the XD and the functions are better
but I want the reliability and years that glock has
I like the idea of having more accessory options
what about the trigger pull distance
is the XD mor like that of a 1911
I do think that the glock might be better for keeping the mud and water out
as there are less openings
just dont know , havent fired it yet not sure if i should go to the show in denver and spend another 100 bucks and get the XD

well guys what say U

if we were talking about concealed it would be the microcompact !

get all covered in mud snow and freezin rainSounds to me like you need a full-flap military style holster far worse then a dishwasher-safe gun.
Or maybe a coat that is long enough to cover the gun.

Just say'n.

It's going to come down to personal choice. And kool-aide. They are both good guns but have entirely different feel so you need to choose what's best for you. I have/carry the XDm 3.8 Compact in .40. It is probably more accurate than I am. It seems to be built like a tank, breaks down easy and is showing very little wear after nearly a year of range time and coming in and out of a holster. I personally like the grip angle and overall feel of the XD better than any Glock I have fired.

I shoot 1911s better than any other autoloader but don't own any. Today I shot a S&W Sigma and had better groups than my XDm. A few weeks ago I shot a Sig 239 and found I shoot the XDm better than the Sig.

It's your call.

Don't second guess yourself. I have had a glock 30 as my only pistol since about 1996ish. It has never let me down. The only time it has FTF is when I tried some generic reloads at a range. It's accurate and my daily ccw. In my opinion you made a good choice.

The 1911 was designed to handle rain, mud, snow and anything else this old earth can throw at it. Problem is that some idiots decided they hat to tighten them up. End result was a firearm that's no where near as reliable.

That said, of the two, I chose the 30. I don't intend to go rolling around in the mud. I'm getting too darned old for that, but the Glocks do have quite a reputation for handling muck and mire.

So there's my two cents. You done good picking the Glock.

I have a Glock 23.
My son has a XD.

Were it not for the gazillion extra magazines & holsters I have for the Glock?
It would have already turned into an XD or another SIG.

I'm in it too hard to get rid of it now and still come out behind quite a ways!

I shot a couple of Glocks. Then went out and bought my first XD.

Now up to four XDs, a Kimber 1911, a Ruger GP-100, A NAZI-marked BHP, A .22 mag Davis Derringer, and zero Glocks in the handgun section of my safe. Soon the add a Bond .410 derringer.

I won't carry a handgun that's only safety is on the trigger so that rules out Glock. I carry an XD every day and yes, I always re-holster without the grip safety depressed.

Jesse didn't make a mistake, especially for a rough use .45....Simply nothing will beat a Glock30....(except a Glock21 ;) ).
There is nothing about the over hyped XD that the Glock will not do better and longer.
Stick with what you have and shoot the crap out of it.

I've had both...G30 and XD. I shot both equally well. I liked both but I if I closed my eyes, the XD felt just like a 1911 to me. If you like 1911's, you'll like the XD.

Straight from

Got proof, or just your opinion? Of course Glock's been doing well since they came out back in the past. They were first after all; well, except for the VP70. They are good, solid guns that work well.
Now that there's a new kid on the block, glockfans will diss them. It's human nature.

I've fired glocks, but I greatly prefer the XD; and maybe even the M&P.

Really? Then why does Glock have a customer service department? To keep the Maytag repairman company? All makes and models are going to have bad apples so you can't make an exclusive statement like that. I've read plenty of posts here about problems with Glocks, even a recent thread about one "blowing up". I volunteer at a local range and yesterday they told me they had a guy shooting a Glock and it blew up in his hand last week. The point of the supervisor passing that event along wasn't to disrespect Glock but to clarify to us range officers when an accident rose to the level of needing to be reported. My point is, there are plenty of Glocks out there that have malfunctioned just like there have been failures with every other make and model so you can never say you can never go wrong with Brand X or Y. That is simply an invalid statement.

My Wonder Glock (model 36) is back at Glock for repair. It has never functioned properly. My 21 has never had a problem nor have I ever had a problem with my XD 45.

They are both excellent brands with very few problems. I now personally prefer the M&P though. That is why Baskin-Robbins has 36 flavors, something for everyone.

It's all good!
