HI
I'm new here and have a Mdl 19-3 S&W 38 spl the was stored for a few years and the cylinder does not revolve as freely as it used to. I cleaned the ejector rod and oiled it. that helped a lot but there is still some drag. What would be the proper way to fix this?
Should I keep lubricating and spinning it by hand or can it be taken down and cleaned? If it can be dismantled could you please advise on the procedure?
Thanks

Disassembly of the crane and cylinder is very simple. If you remove the single screw at the front, lower corner of the frame on the right side, the crane and cylinder can slide forward and out of the frame. Then the cylinder can come off of the crane and you should be able to clean and lube pretty thoroughly.

The real trick is having EXACTLY the right screwdriver (and a careful touch) to remove that screw without boogering it up. Torque it with a poor-fitting driver -- or, heaven forbid, SLIP -- and that pretty bluing job will record your mistake for all time.

Good luck!

I have about 50 quality screwdrivers so I will give it a shot.

Well life got in the way and I was finally able to attempt a repair on the S&W 19-3 cyl being stiff.
It took about 30 min total to get it back to as new The cyl spins like a Las Vegas roulette wheel now
Thanks.
