So, wondering if any of the Hudson Valley guys in the forum know of any good places to shoot in Ulster County, the Catskills, or surrounding area (west of the Hudson). Nice private ranges or little used public ranges are great! Thanks for the tips guys.

It's a bit further than what you're looking for, but I think you'd like the Indian Lake Fish and Game Association in Indian Lake/Blue Mountain, NY. Great range, $35/yr to join.

There are no "public" ranges in NY that I'm aware of. At least not formal ones... there are some sandlots, etc, and most are both dangerous and dumpy.

There are LOTS of private clubs around... if you care to get more specific about where you live, someone could probably recommend a place for you. Ulster and Catskills covers a lot of ground.

Also, and idea of the type of shooting you'd like to do would be useful...

Depends. You can shoot on NYSDEC land, under certain conditions. Go to Region 3 office in New Paltz for the details. The New Paltz gun club is looking for members. Just google NPRGC for applications. Hope this helps.
