Dear THR Community,
I hesitate to start yet another which 1911 thread, but here goes...

After much research and information gleaned from THR, I bought a Colt XSE 1911 Government as my first 45.
The price was 800 new in box.

Gun in hand, I now am offered from the same private broker another recent find of his, an only slightly used (but pristine) SW Performance Center 1911.
The price is 1200 fired a few times at the range (It looks new)

I could trade up to the SW1911 from the Colt XSE.
What are your opinions? Thanks!

PS. I have previously sought help on THR and it was well received. I post when I can, but I know I have few contributive postings adding value and advice, but I am still learning and prefer to be a well meaning lurker than an ignorant windbag.
So keep all opinions coming! I learn from each one and highly enjoy the read.

IMO: You wouldn't gain anything except a lighter wallet.

A Colt is as good as it gets.

Dear All,
A few more clarifications, all prices are in euros, and the market is different here, so I only posted the units as relative one to the other, not to US market.

I chose a Colt XSE Gov mainly because:
- Good reviews here on THR and I intend to use it on the range
- A Colt is a Colt, because it is a Colt (if that makes sense)
- Good collectability? Seems the general consensus
- It looks nice compared to other 1911s imho
- Hard to find in Italy, so +1 for collectability
- Price is 50% of retail, but so is the SW1911

I consider swapping for the SW because:
- I am a shooter, before a collector, and match grade features might become apparent to me on that lovely day in my future when I may shoot better than the gun
- THR and Dad's advice is buy the best you can afford and the SW retails for 20% more, so I wonder if that 20% price difference translates to real value.

I like S&W revolvers, but my three 1911 carries are all Colts, including the XSE.

Very dependable and accurate out of the box, all three Colts did not need a break in period and they can take the heat of extended rapid fire shooting sessions.

Several weeks ago I had a 700 round training session w/o cleaning the XSE and it performed great, it's a shooter's shooter. :)
