Dental picks honestly make the best tools for cleaning handguns and rifles.
I'm not talking about poop crest dental picks. I'm talking about legit ask your dentist for some broken ones. My dentist is a family friend and of course he asked why I wanted them, but did not hesitate to give me any. How awesome

Ask your dentist to save you his old carbide dental drills too.

Beats paying $5 bucks a pop for Dremel carbide burs at Home Depot!

I DO soak them in alcohol for a week before I touch them, cause I don't want to get AIDS if I poke a hole in myself with one!!

Dental picks and hooks are great for working with small coil springs and other tiny parts. So are surgical clamps and tweezers.

I bought some cheap ones from Harbor Freight. They are softer then the real thing. I find them better for gun cleaning and light work as they are softer then the gun metal. The real dental picks can be really hard and will scratch your guns.

Got some from my dentist, also asked him about the tooth filler he used. Wondersd about using for bedding compound, aren't we foolish sometimes with what we come up with. Curious minds!!!

I have a set of Kobalt probes that are similar to dental picks that I use for scraping crud from my .22s. The 45 degree one is by far the most useful.

I got a set from a local hardware store, three, with different shaped ends for reaching into little crevices at different odd angles.

I got some dental probes at a surplus place that were the good ones.
I took them to the dental hygienist and she sharpened them.

Then at a gun show I was looking at a dirty old antique being sold by a clean old man. I pulled out my dental probe and scratched off some dirt. The old guy grabbed the gun, yelled at me, and ran me off.

I came back at another show and bought some interesting guns from him.
He forgot I was the guy with the dental probe.

Hey I asked my dentist about them, the picks/probes, the assistant brought out two small tool bos'x full. He said they are all used and we can not use them anymore, take what you want.

Today I went back to the surplus store where I got the good ones 30 years ago, Ed's in Lynnwood, and all they have is the aftermarket fake surplus dental probes.
