Ruger GP100 trigger stuck back on firing...why?

I have a fairly new Ruger GP-100 in 357 and when I shot it recently, on the first shot, immediately after the gun fired, I noticed that the trigger remained in the rearward position, and was stuck.

I fiddled with it, and I'm not sure what I did, but I got the thing unstuck and opened it, and looked at the fired case and saw nothing wrong, but now I'm wondering:

What might cause this and how would I prevent it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Take the lock-work out of the frame and give it a through cleaning & oiling would be my guess.

Owners Manual, page #17.

Could be many reasons why that happened. Did you ever have any trigger work done or any other modifications?
