Burris .22 Signature Ring Question

I have a new .22, and I got some Burris rings for it.

Everything looks like it is going well, and well aligned, until I tighten the steel rings up.

When I do, the steel rings - not the inserts - gets all cockeyed. (The top half of the rings will be at an angle as compared to the bottom half of the rings.)

Is this normal, or what? It kinda makes me want to get some different rings, even if it is normal.

Try switching the tops of the rings around & see if they line up better.

Are you using the same size inserts in both sets of rings?

They don't line up better if switched.

I haven't measured the inserts, but they are marked as "0".

To be clear, it isn't bad, but it is noticeable at a glance. I wasn't expecting this at all.

I've never had any problem with them. Are the top half of yours angled to the front, back, right or left? It's hard to visualize.

As viewed from the side, the top is angled towards the front of the rifle.

That is, there is a larger gap between the rings at the rear of the ring than there is at the front end of the rings.

I'll try to get some pics taken this evening.

FYI, when the inserts are removed, the rings join close to perfectly.

I've had them do the same thing. I have always been able to just loosen the screws back up just a bit, push the top of the ring straight with my thumb and re-tighten the screws with the top straight.

I haven't been able to. They are still all wonky.

I think they are getting sent back in the morning. It shouldn't take a few hours of dicking around to get a scope mounted.

I have some Weavers sitting around that I'll use in the interim. BKL seem to be well regarded on rimfirecentral - maybe I'll give them a go.
