Okay Mosin Nagant lovers, I have a video here of me firing my Mosin Nagant for the first time after buying it last year. It is a 91/59 carbine version. We were shoting for an hour or two and this video is taken after sun down. My friends' reactions to my rifle in this video crack me up every time.

All I know is that it made my shoulder start shaking in sympathy.

I've got an M44 that was built the same year as I was. The first magazine of shots I thought "what's all the fuss about?". By the time I finshed off a "wrapper" of 20 rounds my right arm was literally shaking from the build up of the recoil effects... :D

Well its not the coolest video, just nostalgia I guess and an impressive muzzle flash.
Plus when we were yellin at my friend (Lol ) about shooting too high we were exaggerating a bit the mountain was a couple 100 feet high and we were keeping him in check just in case ;-)

Ill see if i cant get some videos of the flash from my shortened 91/30 with h4350, i get great velocity, but i end up with a fireball you can see during the day. Odd that my .30-06 with only an extra inch and 4 grains more powder dosent do it as bad. As far as recoil, and the injoyment there off......I got tired of the sharp angles of the metal butt plate biting into my shoulder, so i made a pad for mine LOL

54r ammo uses slow powder.

Wish i could upload the pic from my phone of a buddy shooting my M44. It was just getting dark, and i managed to catch it at full bloom. You see a man braced in classic rifleman pose at the edge of a six foot circle of daylight, a two foot fireball suspended from the tip of the rifle.

Epic shot, description doesn't do it justice...

That's the thing with the muzzle fireballs. It's like trying to catch a picture of a random camera flash unit. So a video is really a case of gambling. Casual watchers would say that the ammo is highly variable. But in reality the scan of the camera has to be passing by at "just" the right time.

The "proper" way to take pictures of the flash is to use a longer exposure setting and as the camera guy clicks down in the shutter for a half second exposure he yells to the shooter. With a little timing, a touch of anticipation by the camera guy and luck such an exposure time will capture the full majesty of the best looking muzzle flashes in stills.
