Congratulations! I have the same gun made in 1977. My kid told me it is his favorite.
Fine weapon you got there.

Mr.Revolverguy-- Why did you have to make me drool again, now I have to go and change my shirt.

There are some nice ones at good prices at GunsAmerica. If I had some extra funds, I'd get another 4-incher...or maybe a 6-inch. I had wanted a LCR .357, but man that's a gun I can think of a lot of reasons for not wanting (primarily it's puny 1.82-inch barrel!). I can't imagine why someone would want a .357 with a barrel less than 2-inches, but Ruger thinks there's a market. I know the velocity difference is nil, but it's the principle. Ruger's Security-Six had a 2.75-inch barrel, a mere .25-inch more than S&W's 66. I've stuck both of 'em in my gut and there's not much of a difference, and in a holster that shrinks to zip.

But it's the 6-inch SS that is the real outdoorsman's delight. The stainless SS and S&W's 66 were both great hunting and camping guns. The Ruger's ability to digest large numbers of hot magnum loads gave it a distinct edge over the 66, but I'd still love to get my mitts on the 66.

Another thing to give it a distinct edge is (of course) the price. Someone can snatch a SS at a good price and use the extra-$$$ to get a great action job.

There was a 6" on MN Armslist today that I was going to look at and it was gone in an hour. I wanted the 6" to go with my 4" and speed 2.75"

By a 3-inch model, do you mean a Speed-Six? I don't know of any other 3-inchers 'cept the Speed-Six. After getting the SP-101, I find that it's inferior to my Speed-Six .357. The Speed-Six is not that much bigger or bulkier than the SP-101 and it holds one more shot (and is easier to shoot). For carrying concealed, I'd take the SP-101; but for all else I'll take my Speed-Six.

Hell, they just don't make guns like this anymore.

Yup, I agree with you about the 3 in Speed-Six! Here is mine-as I found it several years ago at a gun show(Still NIB). I also like my 2.75" Speed-Six and my 2.75" Service-Six, pictured below:

This picture doesn't do justice to my Eagle Secret Service stocked Speed Six but.

And it's zero-zero.. that is no cylinder play, no crane shake or end shake. Locks like a bank vault.
