He proposed it in early 2000s and considered it like running a mile in under 4 minutes in terms of challenge and difficulity.

It is shooting 20 rounds in 20 seconds into a 20 inch group at 1000 yards. No bench rest and no rilfe over 15 or maybe 20 pounds. Time doesnt start till you take the first shot.

The goal was to test a man's skill witha real rifle and not some frakenrifle. Im just curious if any of you know if it has been done. Many thanks.

Cooper sadly passed away in Sep 2006 and he never mentioned anyone completing this in his Gunsite Gossip books. Does anyone know if Cooper knew about this being sucessfully completed? Im not sure when in 2006 Lauck completed it.

If I had a 1000 yard range in my backyard, I'd be all over practicing it. Sounds like it would be a GREAT challenge.

I tinkered around with it with the match M1A with a sling a couple times before I decided it would take either a lot of luck or gobs of ammo to win. It boils down to having a textbook 4.0 rock solid position and trigger squeeze. There's no time to aim. You start squeezing before you can see the target and either the sight descends into the center 20 times or the position crumbles (and you start shooting your way out of the center).
