I just purchased the bassett low picatinny low, now I'm looking for a good set of rings. Any suggestions? Height low, med, high, xhigh?
I currently don't have a scoped picked out, however I have a few in mind.

I'll keep checkin this thread, I am looking for a Bassett mount for my M1A standard, still want to use my irons though without needing a cheekpiece. I am considering the high mount so I can use my irons still, but I understand you need the cheekpiece for that mount. I did email Bassett and they did get back with me, they had some kind of email problems, but still didnt get a satisfactory answer. good luck to both of us.

You'll need a cheekpiece to use any of the basset mounts comfortably. I have the medium (or high) mount and it works well, Irons are clear, but the cheekpiece required to use the scope well has to come off to make the irons easy to use.
Had an ARMS mount that I really liked (very low mount) but with a Springfield Armory receiver, the mount wouldn't hold zero. no issue with the Basset there. I think its the old SA receiver out of spec issue.
I used Weaver rings with the Basset and they work fine. Not fancy but they work

I use SWFA super sniper low rings and a super sniper 10x fixed scope. The eyepiece just barely clears the rear sight (the rear sight has to be clicked all the way down for it to clear). I think this is about the lowest you can get and I don't have to use a cheekpiece, the sight picture is just fine without one.

so at least med. or high with the Bassett low?

I'm using the basset low with low rings. Low rings will work as long as you can mount the scope so that the eyepiece goes behind the rear sight.

Wow I had no idea scoping a m1a was such a thorny business.
Us AR folk have no idea how good we got it.
Good luck with that.
