Am I the only one who'd like to see a pistol like the Ruger Mark Series chambered in 9mm or the like? I like the looks of these guns. The way they operate, what-have-you, and have always wondered if there were someone else who thought like me.

I know, I know, someone will come along and tell me to go get a Luger (someday), but I like everything as is about these little Ruger's and was just curious to know who else was like-minded.

Hmm, nice idea, but since it's a blowback, probably not possible.

Now "IF" someone would start making new, good quality Lugers, I think they'd sell. Heck, look what S&W has done with it's "Classic" line of revolvers.

Yes. I'd love a MK III in 9mm. It's possible to do. It'd have more recoil being direct blowback. Suppressing it wouldn't require a booster though, so I think it'd be pretty sweet.

I still think it'd be pretty neat, regardless of blow-back. But maybe in .380. I guess that's the highest caliber that's safe for Direct Blow-Back? Read that on this forum more than a year ago, correct me if wrong.

Here is a direct blow back 9mm:

A direct blow back gun can be made in any caliber, the problem is that the slide/bolt needs to be heavier as the power goes up.

I was proven wrong, lol. Someone should tell them boys at Ruger to make a 9mm Mark lol

Or go buy a Namba (the gun that inspired Ruger to build the Standard)
A blow back 9 is rather heavy

Weight doesn't bother me. I've got the arm and upper-body strength for it.

Count me in. I would love it. I would also get a 9mm 1911 to match these 22lr

The pistol would need to be entirely redesigned since the bolt wouldn't be heavy enough to allow for direct blowback.

Would you still want one if it cost as much as their 1911?

I like the idea.

Yeah, that would be cool. I understand the need to redesign the action. I'd prefer non-blowback.
But, if they could keep the overall ergonomics and dimensions?
Without going to the actual Luger action. I think that would make the cost to high.
9mm would be great. Imagine, say 9x23 Winchester? I can dream, right?

Here a way to make it work, mass up the slide by making it a open slide that closes over the bull barrel then use a gas retarding system like the HK P7, where you have a bleed port under the barrel that pressurizes a piston keeping the slide forward until pressure drops.

You could keep the aesthetic by maintaining the overall shape.

Always wanted one of those. Made to be a military firearm. Military version had a 3 round burst capability. 3 moving parts, if I remember correctly. Nice photo.

I like the idea of the P7 gas system holding the slide forward to let the pressure drop to safe levels.

Thanks. It's a great pistol. My only complaint is the heavy DAO trigger pull. Very accurate to shoot, but without the 3 round burst forget about shooting fast with it.
