I have four S/A' 9mm & .40 but have never owned a revolver. Waiting on delivery (to my local FFL via Impact Arms) of a new Charter Arms .40 Pitbull, which is same frame as Charters .44 Bulldog & .357 Pug. However, when searching online for holsters the majority of sites do not list any of the CA revolvers. I've ordered two holsters from the Charter website, yet options were few.

Yes, I've researched online, read several articles on the CA Pitbull. I've read that the Pitbull is similar in size to other J frame revolvers. I've always ordered holsters specific to gun model.

Any (positive) input is welcome. TIA!

I think they are larger than a J frame, more like a Colt Detective Special which is a D frame. The Charter is even slightly larger than a Colt. I think the Charter does fit holsters for colt Detective special though. I think if you have not handled one you should.

harvester, thx! I do remember reading comparable size to the Colt Detective, now that you mention it.

My XD40 does not kick (recoil) to my dislike. I will make sure to familiarize myself completely with the Pitbull before its my BUG.

Later SP-101s are also pretty close; basically D-Framed. A holster for a 3 1/16 SP might work for the Charter.

Galco does make an IWB holster for the Bulldog Pug (ModelF119 L). If you're going for an ankle rig, I can't help.

sidheshooter, I'll check on the SP-101. The Pitbull's barrel length is 2.3", btw. Thx!

Fanky, thx... I did see that Galco has an ankle holster leaning towards ordering it. Procrastinating with that one but still a viable option. BTW, I called Impact Guns to check on my gun order & asked them about holsters. They referred me to usgalco.com. An ankle holster was the only Galco holster for Bulldog/Pug/Pitbull that interest me.

Appreciate all the feedback!

Just checked Don Hume website. They list Ruger SP 101 holsters for the Charter Arms Undercover, which is smaller frame than Bulldog/Pitbull/Pug. Oh well :banghead:

I initially had a few problems with my pitbull, it was hanging up during the rotation cycle. A hobby file on the ratchet at the end of the cylinder cured the problem. It is very smooth and shoots very nice now, with no hang-ups.

A recent test with some Hornady Critical Duty busted the side of a 25gal plastic drum.

I conversed with Side Guard Holsters and they made a very nice holster for a decent price. I would recommend them.

The 9mm should not be a dissapointment.

Mine went back to Charter after two range session of 50 rounds each, not ejecting properly. A couple chambers are missing the rim clips. The cylinder feels like it's about to fall off. I'll be curious to see how it works after I get it back.

I carry my Bulldog in a Safariland belt slide and/or Hume JIT K-Frame belt slide. Both are perfect fits.
