Picked it up friday. It is an older one manufactured by Marlin. Not sure of the year. I paid $489 for it at my LGS. Shot it this weekend and I must say I am in love. 10 rounds of .44 Mag just makes you feel confident :)
I plan on putting the XS ghost rings on it. Tossing around the idea of an Ecotech but im not sure yet.
Sorry bout the poor pic quality.

Nice!
Consider the Skinner Sights. I've had scopes and red dots and the factory sights on my 1894c, and the peep sights just seemed to work the best.

Nice! Looks great and a great deal too. I hope you enjoy it. I have been tossing around the idea of a rossi 357 m92 for quite sometime just haven't gone for it yet. If it were me I would throw on some qd rings and have my irons set at 50 while my scope is set at 100. This way you have all your bases covered.

If you'd like to know the manufacture date, just take the first two digets of the serial number and deduct them from 2000. That'll tell you the year of manufacture. For example, 22xxxxx. That would mean your Marlin was mfg'd in 1988.

Like 'Spinal Tap', that one will go to 11 (one in the chamber)...

I have the same gun in .41 mag and it is one of my favorites. One question on the peep sight, what do you do with the original rear sight? Do you just leave the dovetail empty or do you make a piece of metal to fill the gap?

Yah the wood is beautiful. I wonder if the original owner refinished it. One of the things that really drew my attention to the gun.

2 eyed jack........the skinner can mount in the scope mount holes and the skinner should clear the factory sight if you lay it all the way down.
I think they also make one that could go in the dovetail, in that case you would remove it completely.

Yeah, but if you subtract it from 2100 it gives you 2004. My (JM-marked) 1894 that I bought new in 2009 has a serial number starting with 91.
