I have a mauser trigger guard that is for a large ring mauser but will not fit on any large ring mauser i own the mag part is shorter than usual and the trigger portion is also shorter in the fact that a normal m98 trigger will not fit in there its too long, so is this a G33/40 trigger guard or am i missing some other rifle?

Measure the screw hole spacing on the trigger guard. A G33/40 is a standard length action and the holes space 7.835 inches. Intermediate length actions have 7.620 inch hole spacing. What rifles are you trying this trigger guard on?

I tried it on a vz24 action it will screw into a standard m98 action, but only if the trigger is removed the trigger would have to be shortened by a 1/8 to 1/4 in to fit inside that trigger guard

So you are saying that the magazine box is shorter than normal, BUT the screw spacing matches a long action Vz24 ? And the trigger slot is in an oddball location. ???
How short is the magazine box? Like something that say maybe Parker Hale or Husqvarna or Browning might have made up for 308 length rounds and maybe using Timney style triggers?

Since it doesn't fit a large ring Vz-24, my guess is either it's for a 33/40,a Vz-33,Vz-47 or any number of small ring actions.
