VERY upset at classic arms

I ordered a Polish Tokarev from classic arms over two weeks ago. Had the FFL send their copy out to them the same day. Over a week went by, called classic arms and they claimed to not have the FFL on file... actually, they claimed the FFL had expired. One, Classic Arms should have gotten in touch with me if that were truly the case rather than waiting for me to contact them. So I contacted my FFL again. This time, the owner of the gun store himself both faxed AND emailed classic arms their copy. Waited yet again. No word, no confirmation, and the money still had not been taken from my account. So I called Classic Arms today. They claim to "still not have a copy" and that I should try "getting another FFL." I told them to just go ahead and cancel the order.:banghead:

HOW UNPROFESSIONAL. I was already duped by classic arms into paying extra for a "really nice" mosin back when they claimed this was to be their "last shipment at (this) price"... which was already $10 more than any other website for a tula. I paid it thinking they were doing their customers a favor and giving them a heads-up. Prices have still not gone up on mosins and the one I got, while nice, certainly wasn't "Excellent" as they had said.

CLASSIC ARMS WILL NEVER GET BUSINESS FROM ME AGAIN. I have also checked around on their ammunition prices, and they are consistently $10-$20 more expensive than most of their competitors online.

I'm done with them. Whole-heartedly.:cuss:

This sucks. I REALLY wanted a Tokarev, and I REALLY wanted a Polish one. Screw this, man.

This sounds like more than just miscommunication. Sounds like someone just doesn't care.

Both the Mosin anf Tokarev are C&R eligible. For $30 get a C&R license and order without needing to go through an FFL.

Many places will give you a discount on ammo and reloading supplies as well.

I've gotten excellent service from them in the past, although all I ever do is order battlepacks of .308 from them.

That said, it sounds your expired FFL did you more harm than THEY did - they were simply following the gummints regs on these things. :o

There is no such thing as "nice" Mosin-Nagant rifle (except few Polish or Finnish ones) they are ugly and bolt must be worked manually after each shot. Find nice Simonov or something similar in 7,62x39 these are semi-auto and magazines are loaded with strips. Chinese or Yugoslavian samples are still quite affordable Russian ones being original sell for more. Sorry about your experience with that dealer.

The FFL was/is not expired. They (classic arms) claimed the one they recieved was expired, then later that they "Still haven't gotten a copy of an FFL." They just don't care.

Again, clearly not the FFL's fault, so having a C&R wouldn't help in this situation.

Look, I was not treated in a professional retailer/consumer fashion. So I posted my dealings here. Take it for what you will.

I agree with the OP. Too many retailers just don't care any more.

My own quick story: I ordered some parts from Sarco just over two weeks ago. I emailed them yesterday asking for an update, and today in reponse received an autoreply saying it would take them four days to respond. I cancelled that order. I don't understand why retailers can't do a better job of customer service.

Consider AIM Surplus. Good prices, never had an issue with them. It helps that they and SOG are 30 minutes away for me, but I would use them even if they weren't.

Although I have one rifle which is Remington 660 I would much prefer biathlon-style straight pull or toggle action. In Europe Browning sells centerfire hunting rifle like that and .22s are available in USA. If I recall correctly Swiss made military guns like that in 7,5 and they can be had in US for very affordable prices. I would look into getting one instead of Crude-osin Nagant.:scrutiny:

PS. I rarely say this about guns, BUT if you pick up few of those Swiss rifles with some ammo which is now inexpensive it will prove wise investment. The build quality and accuracy are excellent and that cross in shield on top of receiver ring is simply precious.;) People pay $5000++ for Swiss watches worth about $1000 all the time and I didn't think Americans were fond of "bankers".

A firearm that was manufactured over fifty years ago or a collectable published on the BATF list such as pre-64 Model 70's. For example, all 1903 Springfields or military 98 Mausers in their original configuration are C&R eligible.

The Swiss Schmidt-Rubins are very nice rifles, no doubt. I'd love to have one.
I don't know why there are so few straight pull bolt actions available.
Guess, I could pull the gas piston and op-rod out of my Simonov and pretend.
