Went to the range Sunday. Took some pictures with the New I-Pad I bought
last Thursday night at Walmart. Here is my buddy Dwayne shooting his Flint
rifle he built. He is a very good shot. Been friends for over 25 years.

very nice photos. you captured that lock pretty well.
Your pard's eyes look pretty vulnerable, he oughta have some shooting glasses.
(I had some stitches in my eye once, so I get to say that)

Second the glasses, metal in the eye is never good. Beautiful pictures tho.

Your pictures are great.:) The first photo is very interesting. It appears that the priming powder has begun to burn before the frizzen is all the way forward and the hammer is down. In the several slow-motion videos of high-quality flintlocks I have seen, the powder doesn't ignite until a few milliseconds after the hammer is fully down. The lock on your friend's rifle is performing like lots of us thought flintlocks should.:D What is the make and style?
Again, your pictures are beautiful.

I don't see any primer burning, just sparks off the frizzen. There's no smoke. The hammer is near the bottom of it's stroke and the frizzen has started to move. If anything it seems to me that the flint strike on the frizzen is too low.
