suggestions on sights

As I am getting older or maybe that's not even the reason but it seems like seeing my sights at times is getting a little harder.Short of spending money and ripping off and replacing sights. Is there any suggestions as to what one can do about this?

Handguns or long guns? I suppose that you'd have to find out what the specific ailment is first because if it can be remedied with something as simple as prescription glasses, that'd be the best route.

My father found aperture sights to be very effective with regard to his eyesight.

As said - handgun vs long gun will make a huge difference on recommendations.

For longguns I have a few guns with various types (scopes, traditional notch/post, peep), but I honestly don't shoot them enough to really have a good feel for recommending anything.

For handguns, I know that a lot of people have said that having a fiber-optic dot in their front sight post (but ONLY the front - dots on the rears tend to draw away your focus) tend to help. Something like the Warren Tactical sight sets are taller than many stock setups which I like (more sight to see) and are available with fiber-optic fronts. I still like to run plain black on those, but I'm running Warren sights on both my M&P and my Glock 17 and they are great on both.

For handguns, you might want to try out Aro-tek (or other brand) ghost ring sights. They're VERY VERY fast, and easy to see. With a front night sight or fiber optic sight, they're the next thing to perfect in my opinion.

For rifles, I like peep style sights. As long as you can see the front sight you're golden.

I also have Ghost rings on my glocks, with a front night sight. Been 15 years like that, works well, if you can put that front sighton whatever your shooting at , it's history. At night I just use the front sight.

Personally, I like 2-dot (straight eight) sights on a defensive handgun, like on the M9. You could make one or more of them fiber-optic if you want.

Do get your eyes checked. I was having a big problem lately with being able to see my front sights, but I didn't think my prescription glasses had anything to do with it, since they seemed to work well for everything else.

Went to get some new glasses, just because the old lenses were scratched up a lot. Next time I picked up one of my guns and looked at the sights, I almost shouted out loud at the difference -- there they were, clear as anything.
