Had a pretty harrowing experience with a gun at the range. I wrote a post about it on my facebook. Thought I'd like to share this as a caution to some of you guys who may be trying to reload ammo.

Since you couldn't find a manufacturer's mark on the gun, did you actually find a caliber stamping labeling it as a 45-70? Also, you only say "off-brand" ammunition....what manufacturer and loading? While keeping a single caliber designation, the 45-70 is essentially two different loadings....the "orignal" load which mimics the orignal blackpowder loads, and a "juiced up' version for shooting in modern guns capable of handling the additonal pressure. Even if that was a true 45-70 revolver, loading it with the higher pressure, "modern" loads may have been too much for a gun designed for the more mild blackpowder equivalent loads. Also, only one of your links actually takes you to a picture of the damaged gun, the other two link to an auction website

If you actually read the link, there is info about a gun blowing up....but certainly raises more questions than answers and in no way really applies to "guys thinking about reloading ammo" as the story seems to indicate factory loads were responsible. Regardless of any of that, there is far too little actual information for this to be a warning or reminder to anyone, and while the OP seems to believe himself to be some sort of expert....the information, and the way its been provided, prove anything but that....and no Judge has been chambered for 45-70 to date..... Ok, yep...you guys are right I think...troll

Not to the OP (and all): If you have a story to tell or something to share, take the time to post it HERE. Don't just post a link to your facebook page twiddle twaddle or whatever and make everyone click through to your page.
