I'm sure you're all aware of the alleged racist killing that recently happened in Florida. Supposedly, someone on the neighborhood watch ignored watch rules and police advice and confronted someone he thought was suspicious, which ended in him shooting a black teenager to death in cold blood.

This article is saying that it is because Florida's laws are "stand your ground" instead of "duty to retreat" (a change since 2005) and that this is calling the law into question. Personally, I see it as this person didn't "stand his ground", but rather was the aggressor. I'm not from Florida, but if you are, you should voice your opinion to your local legislature that this person broke many laws for racist reasons, and that he didn't stand his ground - he aggressed.

Hopefully reasonable minds will prevail. The shooter followed the teenage boy for some distance and confronted him. He has said that he was defending himself and we have only his word on this. The fact that the teen tried to avoid this man has been verified by the young man's girlfriend. Who states she was on the phone with him at the time.

And this is coming from news reports you have read about, and seen on TV?

Granted, something stinks, however none of us were there to witness anything, and there is only one person alive who knows what really happened.

Since this isn't about guns as guns, or anything THR related, go read your paper for further non-information. :)
