Using my own cast bullets I can load for 6-8 cents a round. If you get brass from Starline you can get 500 cases delivered for around $100. If you want a break down of cost I'll have to sit and play with my calculator for a bit.

YEAH I'm with highlander on that as well. Basically if you cast they are about the cost of a factory .22 round, provided you get the scarp wheel weight lead for free. But that's NOT including the cost of the brass, that I got for free (range pick up).

I figure $7.79/50rnds. Range brass, lead 240gr swc, 10grs unique.

Someone tosses out their .44 brass?

It costs me $9.00 per 50 at this time. I buy 240 gr LSWC cast bullets which cost more than molding your own. I also pro rate cost of brass based on 10 reloads per case. However, I get plenty of once fired brass from shooters at the range who don't reload and could actually take out the cost of brass in the cost factor if I wanted to.

Same as highlander. About 3-4 dollars per 50. Casting my own of course & using brass from the range.

http://www.google.com/search?q=handloading+cost+calculator&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
If you are asking to get an idea of what it costs handloaders around the country (or world) to handload, then your question makes sense.
If you are asking so that you can project what it might cost you to load, then it makes little sense at all. Costs of components by region vary a lot and the costs of differently constructed bullets vary even more.
The link I put at the top of this post will take you to a Google Search page's results. Any of the links you find there will allow your to insert YOUR local costs of the components you wish to use (the most economical cast lead or plated bullets or the most sophisticated jacketed hollow points, for example).
You also did not specify if you wanted us to include amortization of our loading tools or whether we include the amount we pay the kid down the street to mow our lawn instead of mowing it ourselves (to free up our time for loading). That is a cost, too, right?

Under $10 a box. Thanks!

IMO instead of buying new brass I would suggest buying the cheapest .44 Magnum ammo you can find and use that brass after you shoot the ammo. (under $30/50 rounds) The bonus is, you get to shoot the ammo once before you load it again.
Even if you buy the brass it's a one time charge because you can load that brass many time more.

I don't load .44 Mag, but I load .41 Magnums and .45 Colts (just as expensive) for about 5¢ each using cast bullets and Wolf primers and max loads of Herco or Blue Dot powder.
10¢ each if I want to use a better bullet.

Red-line loads with 240 gr jacketed bullets for about $23 per 100.

Well I only use jacketed bullets so that cost is from $15 - $25 per 100, or .15 - .25 cents per round. But this can be less depending on how much time I invest in shopping.
Primers run me about .03, or $3. per 100.
Powder (H110 or 296) is costing just under .08 per round (.077 ), or $8. per 100.
Brass runs about $20 per 100 for Starline.
Total cost for my 44 magnum loads is between
Without brass calculated into the cost I'm spending between $13 - $23 per 50 round box of full house JHP. I have to be honest in that I have not tracked how many loads I get from my brass, but I would be willing to bet at least 25 times before the prmer pockets get too loose to load.

$16.33 That is using new Starline brass so with each subsequent loading of this brass the cost per 50 will go down.

I also load for the .45 Colt but not the .44 Magnum.
At current component prices without buying brass I can load a 250gr lead bullet for 14 cents each ($7.38/50) and with jacketed bullets, it's 18 cents a round ($8.88/50). Now, I don't load jacketed bullets in the .45 Colt but I included that information because you probably will in the .44 Magnum.

LSWC 240gr Keith $46.50 From Missouri Bullet
Starline brass 500 b $95.00 From Missouri Bullet
CCI Primer 300 (1000) $27.99 Graf & Sons

I recently bought a 44 Mag. I have been casting bullets for many years for 44 Spl. I get the wheel weights free. I do use some fuel to melt the lead and a bit of lube, but if I say 2 cents per bullet for that stuff and buying new brass it costs around $14 to $15 for 50 rounds. The next time I load that brass, and for many times to come, it will cost around $4 to $4.50 per 50 rounds. Of course it depends on where I buy components and the deals I can get. In any case, it is way better than paying the price of factory ammo. I see Winchester for $45 a box of 50.

You can't use that price for powder. That doesn't include S&H and the $27.50 Hazmat fee if you buy powder online.

I can buy commercial cast bullets, primers and powder and put them together for about 10c a round. If I had time I could cast my own bullets and knock the price down a little. At this point it's more economical to buy cast.

I figure $7-$8 per 50rds with 240gr commercial cast bullets. Never figure in the cost of brass. It gets reused so many times the cost is insignificant.

And if we were to calculate the cost v.s. factory price for some of the more common high powered rifle cartridges, the degree of savings would be extrodinary.

About the same (other than tumbling) in time and dollars as going to a movie (sans popcorn and soda).
Size/decap, check length, (chamfer and deburr), clean primer pockets, research and decide on a load, prime, flare, charge, tweak seating die, seat bullets and crimp, box or bag and label the lot, open a log entry for the load.
More enjoyable than most movies though.

I just loaded some 240 grain XTP over 24.0 grains of H110. I figure about:
.28 bullet
.03 primer
.09 powder
= .40/round
$20/50 rounds
I don't always shoot lead, but when I do, I prefer Bear Creek Supply Moly Coated $39.99/500

Insert Win Large Pistol primers and thats my load. And, I purchase a mega load with 4 other friends so the hazmat and shipping is 1/4.

About $7.50 a box. With my own Brass at $0.00 per round. Thinking of casting my own but its a wash to recover casting equipment cost.

I am in the same boat as a lot of these guys:
~.22 per 240gr XTP
~.09 for powder and primer (lighter loads of 2400)
~.02 per brass (based on 15-20 reloads on a mix of new factory brass and used brass I buy or trade for)
$16.50 per 50. Cheaper than factory for sure. I might move to cast to save some more dough.

How much is it costing you currently to load a box of 50 .44 Mag?
I don't know, how much is a box of fifty going for ? I know it depends on what box you buy, and so it is with reloading.
I can say you can make your own for less than half the cost of manufactured and if you do it well, you will be shooting better ammo.

A while back I opened this thread
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=628332
"Reloading Cost by the Box"
wherein I proposed that a handloader might be better able to compare cost of ammunition across regional differences in price levels by not considering the cost of ammo in money, but by comparing how many rounds/boxes of handloaded ammunition would equate to how many rounds/boxes of commercially loaded ammunition.
Results were mixed, but might be of interest to people interested in this thread, so I submit it here hoping it will be enlightening.
For example, my friend loads 4 rounds of 500 Smith & Wesson for the cost of one round of commercially loaded comparable ammo.
