Which do you have more of?

March 24, 2012, 12:44 AM
Just curious to see what other people have the most of between handguns, shotguns, and rifles (and, just for kicks, I'll throw Title 1 Other Weapons and NFA firearms on the poll, never know who may only have a PGO shotgun). But I don't just want to see the poll results...I want to see people say what they chose and what they generally use their firearms for.

If you have the same number of two or more options, then choose whichever of the options you would get next.

For me, I have more handguns than anything else because thus far I have a small collection, and I wanted to experiment with carrying different guns (e.g. a revolver, a pocket pistol, and an auto).

Seven revolvers, four semi-autos, one rifle and zero shotguns. I carry many of the handguns and shoot them all at the range. Rifle is .223 - no reason to have it as I have never shot it.

I like them all, but I'm more of a rifle guy. They are the most fun to me. I love working up loads and seeing how tight I can get groups. To me, pistols are more of a tool. They are to perform a specific task. I have one for hunting and I need to get one for HD, but the rifles are where I enjoy myself the most, and they outnumber all the others by far.

March 24, 2012, 03:37 AM
It's pretty close between handguns and long guns. If I thought about it a while I could probably answer. But then again I'm likely to have forgotten about one or three unless I unload the safe and count them...

I have a tie...

March 24, 2012, 04:07 AM
For now I have 5 handguns and 6 shootable rifles (out of 8).

March 24, 2012, 08:18 AM
Pellet gun, 3 revolvers, 5 shotguns, 7 rifles, 0 sense, 0 money

March 24, 2012, 08:52 AM
Handguns are more liquid to me than are shotguns. Most of my shotguns have some sentimental value so I don't part with them. I got into motorcycles a few years ago and trimmed my collection of handguns down to a minimum. I'm now rebuilding that collection. My second bike cost me the first bike plus a blued BHP, Ruger P345, Ruger SBH .44, Beretta 1934, Ruger Super Single Six, XD40, and a Bushmaster AR carbine. Worth it in my book.

March 24, 2012, 09:00 AM
My collection is mainly a collection of Battle Rifles..............

March 24, 2012, 09:12 AM
Seeing as how I live in that silly state of Illinois, I can't carry, and I can't hunt with rifles, anything that I have that isn't a shotgun is for target practice. So I have 4 shotguns, 3 rifles, and 1 pistol....So shotguns win out here

March 24, 2012, 09:22 AM
I have more pistols than anything yet I consider myself a shotgun guy.

Pistols are more of a specialized firearm to me so I need more of them.

At least that's what I tell the wife. ;)

March 24, 2012, 09:30 AM
Handguns. I like shooting handguns.

March 24, 2012, 10:28 AM
Lol this:
0 sense, 0 money

March 24, 2012, 02:18 PM
I have a tie...

Then which, of those that are tied, would you get next?

March 24, 2012, 02:28 PM
I am a good American, haven't you heard guns are bad! So I turned ALL mine in so I would NOT waste the governments time coming to get them. I am doing my part to bail us out and build the economy, buy doing so, hate to waste tax payers money!

I have no guns!:what:Guns KILL people!:what:

REALLY :banghead::banghead::banghead: Is that your final answer?

March 24, 2012, 02:57 PM
16 handguns
2 rifles
1 shotgun

March 24, 2012, 05:19 PM
Guns like alcohol and cigarettes will never stop being sold because they bring way to much money to the US...since when have guns killed people..I thought ppl killed ppl.....last I checked for a gun to go off someone had to pull the trigger ...please tell me that post was a joke ...buy getting rid of guns u get rid of jobs which equals an even worse economy..I really. Hope that was a joke

March 24, 2012, 05:22 PM
Five rifles, two pistols, and a shotgun.

March 24, 2012, 05:44 PM
I own 1 more shotgun than rifles, handguns are in a tie with rifles.

March 24, 2012, 06:04 PM
None of yer @#*!# business. Just what I want to do, put what I own on a public forum, have some hacker track me down, schedule a robbery! NOT!

Besides, too lazy to go count.:what::neener:

March 24, 2012, 06:36 PM
In the Guns I actually Use" category I have more rifles than pistols. In the all guns group I have more psitols.

March 24, 2012, 06:58 PM
I was certain that I had more rifles than anything but I just counted up more handguns than anything else.

March 24, 2012, 07:02 PM
At present between my wife and I, we have 5 pistols, 3 revolvers (one of which is black powder, and one .22), 3 centerfire rifles, 2 .22lr rifles, 1 BP sidelock, and 1 shotgun

Shotgun {1}, handgun {1}, rifle {1} That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

March 24, 2012, 07:16 PM
I have more hand guns than anything. I just enjoy the and have more time to put them to use.
9 Glocks
2 rugers
1 cz
1 s&w and 1 Sig.
I'm sort of a rifle newbie and only have
1 Sig (m400 enhanced 556)
2 remington 22's
I have 3 remington shot guns.
I get the most enjoyment out of the pistols, because I only have one rifle range near me where I can stretch them out over 100 yards, and its 30 miles away. The shotguns rarely get shot as one is for HD, and the other two were handed down to me by my late grandfather and are in rough shape.

March 24, 2012, 07:24 PM
I'm interested in many shooting activities, and about 20 years back quit selling guns I like. I also upgraded my security substantially after a burglary - when I lost several guns that I will never be able to replace. I have several family members who shoot, and I teach lots of young people to shoot. Handguns very nearly tied with rifles, and if I counted right WILL achieve that tie next week.

I don't shoot shotguns enough to need more than a Beretta 5901 12ga, a Mossberg 500 shorty, and a Remington 1100 LT-20 T - but then again, I could shoot shotguns a lot and still only need those three! Rifles tend to be more specialized, and pistols - I like pistols....:D:D:D

March 24, 2012, 10:56 PM
Hmm, so far we have a lot of people voting pistols and rifles (pistols in the lead), and less than 6% voting shotguns.

I'm guessing because shotguns are a lot more versatile in a single chambering. You have your different pistols and rifles for different tasks, but with a shotgun you use the same gun with different loads.

I'm curious to hear from those who voted the other two options.

March 25, 2012, 12:29 AM
I chose rifle. Have 50+ of them, 30+ pistols, and a measelly 8 shotguns.

March 25, 2012, 03:12 AM
Rifle, because everyone knows a pistol is just a backup to get to your rifle! Not to mention I like to reach out and touch that target!

March 25, 2012, 04:21 AM
Let's see. Four shotguns, five revolvers, three pistols, nine rifles. The shotguns are strictly tools. I love my handguns, but rifles are really what I like to shoot.

I keep proficient with handguns, but they are tools, either for SD, or hunting.

March 25, 2012, 04:37 AM
Two rifles two shotguns and one handgun.

Rifles, bolt and semi-autos. For the "Blades of Grass"

March 25, 2012, 03:04 PM
Have more hanguns, prefer to shoot target rifles. Have 2 shotguns W/5 barrells cover home defense, informal skeet, and hunting. Just don't need more than 12ga 3in auto and 12 ga 3in pump.

March 25, 2012, 03:31 PM
I have 2 rifles and 1 shotgun

Ala Dan
March 25, 2012, 06:16 PM
Definitely handguns~! ;) :D

March 25, 2012, 06:21 PM
Right now I've got 2 pistols (both 1911s, a Colt Commander and a RIA full size)
3 rifles (Spikes Middy, Converted Saiga 7.62x39, and Mosin/Nagant M44)
and 1 shotgun (Indian 12ga BP (1863 British Carbine Reproduction)

March 25, 2012, 06:40 PM
I have a tie...
Me too - a 3-way tie between pistols, rifles, shotguns. I had selected "rifles" and was just about to click "vote" and then I thought "wait a minute...". Almost forgot that new revolver. So I'm taking Skribs' advice and voting "rifles", since right at this particular moment, the next object of my affliction is a rifle. That could change pretty easily, but I'm working with what I've got. :)

My alternate reply would be that I have several ties, but I never wear 'em. :D

March 25, 2012, 08:47 PM
I have more pistols than rifles, but only by 2...however, when I build the two stripped AR lowers I have laying around, I'll be all tied up again. Shotguns lag behind by 4, may add one or two more if I get into doing 3 gun matches, but for now, I'm pretty well set in that department.

March 25, 2012, 09:26 PM
Nine semi-auto handguns. No revolvers or long guns at this time.

March 25, 2012, 09:28 PM
I live in the city now, and I can stuff more handguns in a safe than long guns.

March 25, 2012, 09:31 PM
Long guns but slowing trying to build up my handgun collection

March 25, 2012, 11:54 PM
I have more revolvers than pistols, so, I was unable to vote. :)

March 26, 2012, 01:05 AM
All twelve of my guns are rifles.

If it were nobody else's business, then why would I choose to respond?

March 26, 2012, 12:01 PM
More handguns than long guns.

March 26, 2012, 12:55 PM
You're gonna make me count?

March 26, 2012, 01:36 PM
I have about twice as many handguns as I do longguns and about twice as many rifles as I do shotguns.

March 26, 2012, 01:45 PM
1 Shotgun, 3 pistols, 1 rifle.

Mossberg 500, CZ-82, Browning buckmark, Sig Sauer 2022, ak-47

March 26, 2012, 04:06 PM
While I do have quite a few Hunting rifles I caught the Mil-Surp Bug and have been buying them for a few years now.I only own 1 pistol a Ruger GP-100 .357,It is a beautiful handgun.I also have 5 different shotguns from Browning BPS 12ga,16ga Mossberg,,870,Beretta,3.5in 835,20ga.Sorry about that.

March 26, 2012, 04:11 PM
:uhoh::scrutiny:Rifles 6 to 1. But then I swear I only have one of each ;)

March 26, 2012, 04:26 PM
Wow, I'm in the shotgun minority. Whodathunkit?

March 27, 2012, 02:15 AM
11 auto handguns
2 rifles
1 shotgun

March 27, 2012, 02:37 AM
question, as of right now the poll is

53% pistols
39% rifles
6% shotguns

how long has it been like this? When did the tide turn in favor of handguns or has it always been.

I have to think though, that shotguns would have been much higher when my dad was my age

March 27, 2012, 02:43 AM
how long has it been like this? When did the tide turn in favor of handguns or has it always been.

I am guessing it is actually the separation between urban and rural owners.

March 27, 2012, 06:01 AM
i collect surplus rifles but shoot handguns 99% of the time

23 rifles 4 pistols 4 revolvers 3 shotguns

March 27, 2012, 03:51 PM
Then which, of those that are tied, would you get next?
I would just get even further into a tie!:neener: I have [only] one rifle, and [only] one shotgun. I plan on adding a handgun in there sometime.

March 27, 2012, 04:16 PM
Okay, so who's that guy that has more NFA guns than any other type, and can I be mentioned in his will?
