Dear THR,
CZ75 BD Compact or Glock 19? Which is better suited to carrying concealed with chamber loaded? I think CZ 75 BD Compact.

As for internal safeties, which is more sound? Not sure

Which is more reliable? I think Glock 19.

Which is more accurate? Glock 19 for me.

Which has better ergonomics? CZ75 BD Compact in my opinion.

Finally, which is over all a better pistol with respect to aforementioned questions?

Regards

CZ makes a great gun for punching paper at the range. If you want a SD firearm the Glock is a far better choice.

The CZ PCR (or P-01) is a better comparison to the Glock 19. It's smaller and lighter than the full-size BD. You should compare the BD to the Glock 17, not the 19.

Both the Glock 19 or the PCR/P-01 make good Concealed Carry weapons that are also good home defense or range guns.

Which is best for you only you can decide. I recommend you try both, if you can. And buy used - neither is likely to need warranty work.

I've used both but I prefer the P01 by a large margin. It doesn't have the brass hit your face feature the Glock has.

I've never had a Glock that did that. (I've had a bunch of CZs and Glocks.)

For me my CZ-75D PCR is more accurate, just as reliable, and with better ergonomics than a G19. You can't gow wrong with either though.

The cz rami would probably be a better carry gun...but if you wanna carry full size go with glock...that's comming from a cz lover

I love shooting my full-size CZ in 9mm. But when I carry a full-size it's a Glock in .40S&W.

I can't see how this would be different if both were compacts.

I've owned six Glocks and none have ever ejected brass toward my face.
Maybe there's something wrong with your Glock.

Between the CZ and the Glock...I would take the Glock every time.

The CZ compact. I have found it to be more ergonomic and accurate than the Glock.

I was hoping that particular questions as outlined in OP were touched upon rather then simply stating what is best.

If you plan to carry the pistol all day every day, then the Glock is the clear winner as it is lighter in weight, shorter, thinner, and lower in height.

Weight unloaded:
CZ 75BD = 34.72 oz.
Glock 19 = 20.99 oz.
At 29.98 oz. fully loaded, the G19 is still lighter in weight than the unloaded CZ.

CZ overall length = 8.11 in.
G19 overall length = 7.28 in.

CZ width = 1.38 in.
G19 width = 1.18 in.

CZ height = 5.43 in.
G19 height = 5.00 in.

Size wise the CZ is more comparable to the Glock 17.

I also prefer the Glock trigger over the CZ BD trigger.
I'm not a fan of DA/SA pistols.
I prefer the same trigger pull from the very first shot to the very last shot.

If you look at the PCR rather than the BD, the differences are less pronounced. You really need to compare COMPACT to COMPACT, and not FULL SIZE to COMPACT. The PCR is essentially a compact form of the BD, but with an alloy frame. I don't think they make a true "compact BD." The BD has a steel frame.

CZ PCR 27 oz vs G19 20 oz. weight
CZ PCR 5.03" vs G19 5.00" height
CZ PCR 7.2" vs G19 7.24" length
CZ PCR 1.38" vs. G19 1.18 width

CZ mags may be a little cheaper, if you by Pro-Mags, which are VERY GOOD for the CZ compacts. (The .40 compact mags work as a 9mm hi-capacity CZ compact mag. I don't recommend Pro-Mags for anything else)

As I mentioned in an earlier response, you need to try both -- rental if possible -- or someone here on the forum that lives near you.

I'm a big CZ fan, but would probably go with the Glock 19 for carry. For anything else, it would be a big tossup, as I like them both. The thinner, lighter G19 is hard to beat for carry. The trigger is the sticking point for some shooters -- with the CZ being better, after breakin.

Maybe there's something wrong with your Glock.

And that would not be unusual.

My CZs have been utterly reliable with all sorts of ammo. I've owned a Glock 17 (as well as 4 .45 caliber Glocks). While the Glock 17 was reliable, its accuracy and ergonomics leave a lot to be desired. A gun that is reliable, accurate, fits you well and is comfortable will go a long way to giving you confidence. In that respect, I'd take a CZ any day over a Glock.

I agree with the others that say the CZ75D PCR should be compared to the Glock 19.

As for internal safeties, which is more sound?

Both have the internal firing pin block. The true double action first shot of the CZ would be considered more safe than the Glock by some, due to the heavier trigger pull on the first shot from a decocked hammer. But the Glock NY1 and NY2 trigger springs can even that out, if that is a concern.

Which is more reliable?

I consider them equal enough to not worry about it.

Which is more accurate?

Both seem to have just as good a chance as being as accurate as the other.

Which has better ergonomics?

The CZ is more comfy in my opinion and the decocker is easy to reach and use.

Finally, which is over all a better pistol with respect to aforementioned questions?

If you like metal frames, traditionally built internals, true DA/SA with a decocker, and a hammer struck firing pin the CZ wins.

If you like light weight polymer frames, easier parts replacement, and the same trigger feel for each shot fired, the Glock wins.

Glock for carry, CZ for range work....Both very good guns!

I voted for the Glock 19 having owned both. CZ makes amazing guns that are excellent shooters. Glock makes a simple, no-nonsense, cheap, reliable gun with tons of cheap parts available. In the end, I stuck with simple and cheaper.

I voted CZ. I'll take a hammer fired decocker any day of the week over these plastic Austrian "marvels". However, I would carry neither of the two pistols compared, as for me personally, they are too large for the intended duty which is concealed carry. Something a bit more compact would be in order for myself. I do not trust DAO, YMMV.

Brass to face: my Glocks do that but only when fired in "gangsta" mode.

See what fits your hand best. Also do you like or dislike decockers? The Glock is similar to a revolver in that you have no safeties or decockers. You can also make your Glock trigger light or heavy like a revolver. Glocks have a great finish that is resistant to rust.

Glocks don't fit my hand so I have a CZ.

You won't go wrong either way. Get the one that feels best in your hands.

For me, I like and have the CZ P-01. The PCR is another fine pistol if you like the CZ 75 Compact.

The brass to face has shown up on the Gen 4s and the late Gen 3s on an occasional basis. It has been enough of a problem that Glock has made a new ejector to help with the problem, although I still think my wife's 19 hated me because I liked my CZs better.:) There was one time when she was shooting and I was to her LEFT and it passed over her head and struck me on top of mine. I sold the demonically possessed thing after that.

I carried a Cz @075 Rami and found it to be an incredible carry gun. The option to carry cocked and locked or to carry with the hammer down and rely on the DA pull was really nice. I also found the little Rami to be far more accurate than I ever thought possible in a 3" concealed carry piece. My vote Goes to CZ. The 75 series Cz have a pedigree and history of reliability that few other guns can match. That's not an opinion, that's a fact.

Polymer guns are great, I love my Xdm, but the whole "glocks are great because they are simple" argument never really made me want one. You know what else is simple, reliable and cheap? Hi-point, but im not going to carry one of those either. That's my .02

I am a huge CZ fan and own one in 9mm amd 40S&W. I also respect the Glock for what it is and has shown us over the years. I would choose the CZ over the Glock (I did for me) but I am totally surprised that the poll is neck-and-neck. I'd have bet the mortgage that the Glock would win 3-1 or more due to all the Glock owners out there.

I've carried a CZ P-01 and a Glock 19, one personal, one issued. I qualified Expert or Distinguished Expert with the Glock for 10 years. I have had more Glocks fail in my hand than CZs. My OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE leads me to believe that I would much rather have the CZ, as mine have proven reliable, rugged and accurate. My current carry is actually the CZ SP-01 Phantom, a full size gun that I trust.
The Glock is a generally reliable accurate and durable pistol, and if you chose it you certainly wouldn't be "stepping down" by any means, but it will come down to fit, which one fits your hand better? It's your hide, not ours.

I voted CZ also, but would not hesitate to carry a G19. However, I am also surprised at the poll results. With all the Glocks in LEO's hands, and the plethora being pushed at gun stores nationwide, the popularity of the CZ shockes me.

I carry a PCR, but thought I was really an anomoly. Maybe not.

I didn’t vote, but I do own both and carry both (let’s assume we’re talking PCR/P-01 instead of the full size CZ)…and I’m more than comfortable with the reliability and accuracy of both. It really comes down to ergonomics. Glocks are pretty simple and more than functional. CZ’s do give you a little more in the way of grip choices which can be a nice feature. My P-01 is a very sweet piece and I love the ergonomics and it carries very similar to my G19. I think Glock mags are a little cheaper which is a bonus for the Glock. Although Glock parts are more prevalent, you can get all the major replacement parts for CZ’s as well…more common availability would go the Glock, but if you plan ahead, it’s a moot point.

I wish I had a better side-by-side comparison shot, but my P-01 (or the PCR version) is a better comparison to the G19 (my picture shows my G23…but you get the idea). I added cocobolo grips to my P-01 and love the feel…it’s always a tough choice, I just prefer to get both and end the debate:neener:
