Including all costs for gunsmithing, add-ons, accessories and tactical gizmos, what's the most money you've ever spent to purchase a custom pistol, or to customize a stock version of a pistol?

About $40 for new grips and replacement springs.

I'm not a big fan of BOPOS...

I haven't spent more than 60 bucks on anything i've bought that was stock.I did spend $900.00 on a colt officers model that was fully customized,it did shoot any better than my stock springfield armory so i decided not to spend that kind of money again.

$1200 for a stock Series 80 Gold Cup and $2000 for customizing it to fit my specifications. I did all of the work myself, but added in gunsmithing as directed above. This is not the most expensive pistol I have ever put together, but it is in the top bracket.

The number two would horrify all of you. I bought 4 Bolo Mausers that had been imported from China, selected the necessary parts from them, bought numerous special add-ons and aftermarket parts from various cources, had the shot out .30 barrel re-bored and re-rifled to a very fast twist and left chambered to 9X19, which I will eventually ream out to 9mm Largo and I gritted my teeth and bought a large supply of original DWM Mauser stripper clips at a Gun Show. A set of traditional fancy polymer grips and a complete slow rust blueing and finally added a new rear sight that I found, graduated to 500 meters.
Now, I realize this seems nutty to most of you, but I've always wanted a nice Bolo and this is as close as I can ever come, and it will be in a significant caliber, ready to swallow 10 rounds and bang them out into the X ring. Come to think of it, I am beginning to think it is nutty when I think of what it cost.

My record was just over $600 in new parts, robar refinish, and CTC lasergrips for my Springfield Champion.

The new personal record is being assembled now as I am trying to save up about $1,000-1200 to "restore" my CMP H&R Garand with a new exotic wood stock, a complete R&I, new match barrel, and refinishing. I am more interested in an updated whiz-bang shooter that still "pings" than a matched parts wall-hanger. The only place I am torn is on going with .30-06 or switching to .308.:uhoh:

One of the more expensive gunsmithing bills I've seen was just under $4000 for a Larry Vickers pistol. Thats not including the base pistol to do the work on.:what:

I 'accur-ized' a new Berreta so-called Elite II buy trading it in on a nice P7M8 once and got out of the deal $300 in the red..........does that count??

Other than that, the most I spent was $160 or so for a Hogue cammo-lamo finger groove grip and some factory Dan Wesson white outline sights for Big Dan's 10 year birthday.

Intrestingly, the Hogue grip was almost $20 less through Dan Wesson than it would have been ordering it off of Hogues web site, go figure??

I poured a boat load of money into a Python.

It had a six-inch barrel when I bought it. I already had a six-inch Python, so I ordered a four-inch barrel and sent it to Magnaport for crowning and porting. I sent the revolver and new barrel off to a gunsmith, only to discover I'd bought the new barrel, whereas the Python needed the old barrel. Hundreds upon hundreds of dollars later, I had a four-inch Python. I sent it to Checkmate Custom in Florida for nitre bluing. They did a truly terrible job at exorbitant price. I sent it back. They blued it, but it still looks shoddy.

I still have the ported, crowned four-inch barrel. One of these days, I'll find a Python that...

Well, maybe not, too.

Beretta Elite II: $350 or so if you include the carbon fiber grips.

Oooh, I didn't read the question right; I didn't add in 'smithing.

Figure the figure is $4,500.

Nothing too outlandish... I customize most of my 1911s a bit, grips, springs, triggers, MSHs etc...

Most I've personally spent was about $175 getting my WWII-ized 1991A1 together. That included several GI parts, refinishing a new MSH, trigger job, reliability job, and some very non-WWII grips.

I bought a 38 Super Combat Commander that already had a fitted S&A MSH/magwell, matching grips, trigger, trigger job, checkered slide stop, reliability work, fitted bushing and link, all new springs, bunch of Wilson internals, etc... And a two Wilson Mags. Got it for a steal... But that's probably the pistol that I have that has had the most dollars in customizing done to it.

It's about $1800 including the base pistol.....

The compact is now in the shop and haven't got the bill - but so it's about $800 including the base pistol.

This got me thinking. Every gun I own but one has been customized a little bit. Mainly custom spring kits in revolvers, as well as trigger jobs

For my Springfield Armory .45, I spent $100 for a bushing compensator and a heavier recoil spring and a dampened, full length, recoil spring guide rod.

I spent about $1600 on a Colt (not because I had to but because I wanted to) did most of the work myself and I am happy to say it still shoots at least as good as when it was bought

I just put a Wilson 298S on my Kimber and bought her 3 47Ds so just $100 or so on that one

$60 for a pair of grips.

I am thinking of buying a nice but beat up S&W revolver in a year or two and then sending it to S&W for a variety of modifications (maybe set a $300-400 modification budget). That is probably 2 or 3 years, and at least one year, off however.

Since there is always the chance that my 'accountant', otherwise known as my wife, could read this, I refuse to answer the question.

All I will say pubically, is that my gunsmith drives a new pick up, and mine is a 1976 F-100. I do have a few nice handguns though'
