So I was at the local gun shop today, and came across a Browning Buck Mark UDX while I was browsing for a nice little .22 pistol. This thing is pretty sweet!

Does anybody have one of these? How are they? This thing was way better than a Ruger Mark 1 that I tried, better fit and finish, and more ergonomic. Felt better in my hand.

What's the going price on these? My LGS wants $495, which seems right under MSRP for them. $500 for a little .22 seems doggone steep when the Mark 1 I looked at was going for $195.

Here it is on Browning's website:

I have something similar, and I love it.

For the price, it's hard to beat. I haven't done a thing to it, not have I felt the need to. I just bought a few spare mags and feed it lots of ammo. The trigger could use some lightening if you're comparing it to an expensive VQ quality trigger pull, but it is lighter than the triggers I use for self defense and competition...so I could care less.

Everyone who shoots it loves it. I bet I went through 8000 or more rounds the first month or so that I owned it. Plinking at reactive targets and steel with it is an absolute blast. But it, shoot it to death and enjoy it.

As far as price, look at features. I shopped around at my time of purchase and bought whichever was cheaper with the features that I wanted...
5" or more for barrel length
heavy barrel
protected target crown

If I could have gotten the same features in a ruger for less money, that's what I would have bought. :)

This is mine and I think it's the UDX. Really nice pistol.

I have one and love it.

However..I did have to make a repair after about 4 months of shooting it, due to a seemingly very cheaply made part. And customer service wasn't exactly great.

The slide stop "button" just fell off one day. After inspecting it, it seems to be a bad design. The "button" (the part that you actuate with your thumb to release the slide) seems to be just GLUED on to the lever. I suspect that it might have come in contact with some sovent while cleaning, and disolved.

I called customer service, who told me to ship it back to them so that "we can see what's wrong". Well, I knew what was wrong, and they didn't offer a shipping label, and I wasn't about to spend $80 shipping a handgun 2 ways over a $15 dollar part.

I just bought a replacement part from Midway, dropped it in, and called it done.

FYI, the replacement part is also GLUED. I really expected more from Browning.

It is a great shooter though.

Interesting, nj. I need to go home and look at mine.

I readily admit to only cleaning mine after a thousand rounds or so. All I do then is take a brush to the breechface and pull a boresnake through it. After many thousands of rounds, I've taken the barrel and slide off maybe once or twice. That may cause a coronary embolism for some here. But my experience with 22's for my plinking purposes is to clean them when they don't function, every few months or if I get caught shooting in the rain. :)

All I need is enough accuracy to hit a 2" steel target or minute of soda can. I don't get much satisfaction out of shooting groups with a 22 autoloader.

The only negative I have is that I really don't care for rubber grips. But they are nice on rainy days.
