7.62x25mm SBR 10.5"

I recently purchased a 10.5" 7.62x25mm upper for one of my SBR's. After some initial function issues with the initial bolt, it's running fine and is a very handy and quick-handling carbine with literally no recoil.
I like it a lot better than my 9mm 7" upper and the 7.62x25mm Gas operated upper is much smoother than the 9mm blowback.

Never seen something like that before. Cool :D
Are the mags from a PPSh-41 or PPS-43 or something along those lines?

Very nice, I've got the CNC Machine 7.62x25 16" upper, I'd order one for my SBR pistol except the cheap 7.62x25 ammo seems pretty much gone. I've stocked up well enough to keep my upper and my TTC well fed, but another to feed would be too much :)
If another load of cheap ammo comes in, I'll stock up again and order one of these!
The Slide-Fire stock works great with my 7.62x25 carbine upper :)
Uses modified PPsH 43 mags, very easy to mod, them I've done a dozen.

Wally hit it on the head.
CNC Machine upper with modified PPS 43 Magazines.
I am stocked deep on the 7.62x25mm so feeding it is no issue. I am confident that more x25 ammo will be imported in the near future.

Very cool. Right when I was looking to buy one is when the cheap ammo for them seemed to dry up. I wish I would have got it a bit sooner and stockpiled 10K or 20k rounds. I'm with Wally that if cheap ammo were to become available again I will.
What kind of velocity do you get from the 10.5" barrel? How does that compare to the 9mm? Thanks.

Looks almost like a MP5 with the curved magazine, I might have to get one of these, I have several pistols that shoot the 7.62 X 25, so I have a decent supply of ammo but a gun like that would probably get pretty hungry.

So, are they PPSH mags or are they PPS mags?
PPSH is the 41.
PPS is the 43.
They are not the same, nor are the mags.
I've thought about modding a PPSH 41 drum to work with a PPS43.
There is no such thing as a PPSH43.
Reading is fundamental.

I haven't measured velocity on this one, but I would bet that the 7.62x25mm clocks pretty impressive in the 10.5" barrel.
As for compared to the 9mm, the gas operated Tokarev upper just feels smoother than the 9mm while shooting.

PPSH is the 41.
PPS is the 43.
They are not the same, nor are the mags.
judging from the fact that mags are double feed those are definetly PPS-43 mags

That is a sweet set-up OP. Have you tried to run it on a FA lower?

Assuming you're running mil surp what is your cleaning procedure for the corrosive ammo? For corrosive ammo i rinse in tub with dish detergent or hose off outside, dry and then heavy application of CLP. I imagine the same would be true for the AR platform.
Also, is the barrel chrome lined?
Cool gun.

I have not tried on a FA lower, but The manufacturer has and it runs like a top.

Chrome lined bore. I typically clean with soapy water first followed by Windex w/ammonia, followed by conventional cleaning with solvents. Receiver gets the same treatment.

That certainly has some neat-o factor. I reckon its economical to run too. Nice. :)

Just shy of $1K with three 32rd mags and one 20rd mag. Spendy yes, but stupid cool and the 7.62x25mm makes for a very snappy close range carbine. I would not feel underarmed out to about 75m to 100m with this set-up.
It quickly has become a range favorite of mine and I have since sold all my 7.62x25mm handguns.

I've had a 16" for a while; and ran it off my friends' FA lower a while back. It was a lot of fun. Only problem was i only brought two spam cans, and in his neck of VT, there were no stores with 7.62tok ammo.
A few of my mags haven't held in well, and dropped out mid-magazine; but i bent out the upper edge of the retaining cut on the mag body with some pliers, and no problems since. Well, one mag had some wobble, but that was solved with a wrap of electrical tape...it's not photogenic, but it's solid and works fine.
I seem to remember mine was like 700, not 1k..perhaps prices have increased with demand.

I've been wanting that exact setup for a few years. Really interested in the velocity you're getting.

This guy says at the bottom of page that he can load it to 1900fps, but trajectory seemed unstable. He seems to know what he is talking about. Check it out! http://jggunsmith.wordpress.com/2012/03/14/loading-the-tokarev/

What JShirley said.
Finally sum1 built a lil beast like this.
A velocity check will be interesting.
10,5 should be nice for the round.
i wouldn´t feel unarmed with one either :)

Notes I have taken. (I piddle about with a CZ52 and handload for a C96, so I have done a little research.)
Prvi Partizan PPU Serbia factory stats
7.62x25 85gr bullet 525 mps (1706 fps) from 250mm 10 inch barrel.
7.63x25 85gr bullet 460 mps (1495 fps) from 150mm 6 inch barrel.
PPU is also headstamp on Wolf Gold (brass case ammo).
Sellier&Bellot S&B factory stats
7.62x25 85gr bullet 503 mps (1630 fps) from 120mm 4.8 inch barrel.
The Czechs were forced, as part of the Warsaw Pact, to adopted the 7.62x25mm cartridge.
The Russian 7.62x25mm loading from the PPSh submachinegun (SMG) was listed as 1640 fps from a 10.6 inch barrel and from the Tokarev pistol as 1378 fps. (With the Russians, their pistol came first and the SMG was adapted to the pistol round.)
In 1951 the Czechs adapted their Model 24 and Model 26 SMGs from 9mm to 7.62x25mm. However, they gave their M48 7.62x25mm cartridge a loading that gave them 1800 fps from an 11.2 inch SMG barrel. Then they adopted the CZ vz 52 (CZ52) in 1952 a year later to use the same ammo as their SMGs. The CZ52 pistol was listed as having a 1600 fps muzzle velocity with the Czech M48 load. (With the Czechs, their SMG loading came first and their pistol was adapted to the SMG round.) Pressures for Czech ammo appear to be listed same as Russian, implying a slower burning powder used in the Czech load for higher velocity, but thats a surmise.
Velocity listings for Russian guns with Russian ammo and Czech guns with Czech ammo from W.H.B. Smith "Small Arms of the World", Stackpole, 1966.
