I asked this question here back in December.
Sucks getting old!

Nope. Just traded my Mini 14 and $75 for a brand new 1895. No cowboy, though.

I believe Preacherman's got one on which he's done some customizing. I've considered it countless times, but have yet to jump in.

Ya mean like this one?
Yep... long ole barrel. Came with an improved trigger, elevation sight and a big look lever. Put the stock lever back on though.

I was quoted a price of $590 at my local gunshop yesterday.
MSRP is $820.
What did you guys pay for yours?

Two friends have them. They think they are great.

I think I paid $450 used for mine... two previous owners one of which never shot it. And it came with the trigger group, big loop lever and elevation sight.
To order a brand new one, I think the gun shop owner said he could do $550 or $560 but I wouldn't swear to that.

anyone else have one of these? I am thinking of picking up one soon. I know the marlin's you can load up pretty darn hot, not at much as a Ruger though but far more than your anemic loads for the old trapdoor guns.
I was really set on the stainless but from what I have handled the action is sooo much smoother on the cowboy and the fact that you have I think 9 shots versus 4 are a huge difference as well.
This would be a brush gun for me and started thinking about the stainless getting scratched up.
Who else has one and what do they think?

Funny, I was drooling over one at the gunshop tonight. It would make a nice gunsafe neighbor to my Sharps.
