Why buy once fired 357 mag

I usually get on the trading post and look for desent deals on there. I used to sell a lot of brass on there as well. Stuff I'd get free and had a ton of. I cant figure out why people buy once fired 357 mag brass on there. Its never at a resonable price in my opinion. Does 70 dollars for 500 sound like a good deal? You can get 1000 pieces of new starline brass for 120 and thats with free shipping I believe. I just wonder what puts once fired 357 mag brass so expensive these days.

Well, revolver brass is always more expensive. It's rare to find it as pickups. And when you find it, it's usually either once-fired or tired and old discards.

So I'm not surprised if true once-fired is as expensive as Starline brass. What's the difference, really? You might save one run through the tumbler, but it'll be just the same after that. Either way, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying factory ammo, and a batch will last some reloaders a lifetime.

357 magnum brass has gotten HARD TO GET these past couple years

I keep finding it & trading my buddy for his 38 spl brass.

The price of OF .357 Mag has been insane for a couple of years or so. I ordered 500 from Starline, despite it being shown as out of stock, and received it within 5 or 6 weeks. That was a couple of years ago. It is still put back in my cabinet. It has come down a little lately, from some sources anyway. Hopefully it will get back to normal one day. I saw OF go for more than new on GB regularly. Crazy.

Once fired or new, I still get dozens of reloadings off it. I bought a bunch of Starline a while back, and it was only slightly less expensive than the once fired I run into from time to time.

This was the case when I started out in '09. I actually bought 300 rounds of reloads of dubious origin and pulled them down for brass & bullets.

I lucked into a deal on new Starline and use those for loading the Big Dogs. The used stuff gets cycled as light target loads so I don't have to deal with carbon rings.
