Is anyone having trouble with Gun Broker besides me?

I love on line auctions and GB in particular. I've completed nearly 60 transactions on Gun Broker. The problem I'm having is that their site has apparently either been hacked or they have given in to the temptation of allowing others to advertise on their site. I am absolutely sick if seeing adds for auto insurance superimposed in the middle of my screen and sound bits for commercial products (Lysol soap just last night). I have tried to contact Gun Broker directly and that appears to be impossible. Their help page only contains links for places to go to obtain free software to clean things like spyware off you hard drive. I have very good security software and a single trip to Gun Broker usually results in eight to ten spyware cookies being netted. How do we get Gun Broker's attention? I've tried to register for their forum and can't seem to get my registration accepted. I've reached a point where I'm about to quit Gun Broker completely. Does anyone out there ahev any suggestions?

I have zero ads showing up, and I block cookies so no spyware either. Maybe you just need a decent pop-up ad blocker?

other than a 2.5" x 2.5" ad and one skinny banner.........no problems.
no music, no popups, no problems.

Your PC is infected with an AdBot and a redirector. Without more details, I can't say which flavor. You will need to clean it up. I would suggest starting with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and then a dose of SuperAntiSpyware. Please note that some of these types of malware are VERY persistent and can only be cleaned with a rollback or a complete wipe/re-install.

When gunbroker redid their site, all these ads appeared. I get them also, doesn't matter if it is Chrome, Firefox, Apple Safari or IE. I do not have a separate ad blocker, but do run multiple security software scans to make sure nothing is on my PC.

The version of Firefox I run blocks some of the ads at the top of the webpages, but not the ones buried into the results.

Gunbroker, like so many other businesses are getting paid for the amount of people that see those ads.

I'm on gunbroker everyday and I have zero extra new ads showing up.

Your claim does not compute.

I am a seller on Gunbroker. I visit it 50 times a day if not more. I run IE9 and don't use Firefox for Gunbroker. I have had zero ads popping up or otherwise. You have an issue either with Firefox or on your hard drive like others have suggester. If you have Internet Explorer try going to Gunbroker with that and see what happens. It is not Gunbroker's site but your computer.

I have to agree with the others saying it may be your PC. Visited it twice yesterday and no issues like the ones you mentioned using FireFox and Chrome. I would not even try IE9, That thing is just awful to begin with.

Use Malwarebytes, Spybot Search & Destroy, and AVG is what I use and have had no issues using them and have had no problems. All programs are free so that is a plus!

I had my security company (Cyber Defender) perform a remote analysis of my hard drive. It's not my computer. Gun Broker is permitting others to advertise on their web site. I'm getting damn tired of it!!!

So..........one little STATIC 2.5" x 2.5" ad and one skinny STATIC banner are getting your goat?

GunBroker has been running those ads since their redesign a year or so ago.

If your getting popups, or banners that move.........it ain't GunBroker.;)

additionally if you run a search and open the webpage with Notepad and read the HTML code, you will find a link to website http://bmp.gunbroker.com. On that page will be Administrator Login Advertiser Login and User/Publisher Login. This will be where ad images are being stored.

So no, no one's computer is infected. They are just making more money for themselves by running ads, just like television stations/newspapers/magazines do.

i use gb for purchase and sales. their fees are reasonable-and i hope they would remain as such. they get$$ every time you click on an ad. would it be better if they just charged more for a transaction.:what::eek:

I visit GB regularly. I don't see any ads...

Linux + Chrome + Adblock = Happy.

I don't have any problems either. I was on there about an hour ago for about 20 minutes with nothing except the ads at the top like always. Just looked now and there was a Jeep ad on. I see no problems.

This is 100% correct the issue at hand.
