I have a Ruger Gunsite Scout awaiting my pickup when I return to home state...

I'm so excited, I decided to start stocking up ammo in advance of picking up the rifle. I plan to use the RGS to augment my AR's (5.56/.223) and lever rifles (.45 Colt, .44 mag., .357 mag.).

The .308 should be good for some hunting, as well as for long(er) range defense use, should circumstances in the country come to severely dire times.

I picked up a couple of boxes of Hornady FPD TAP 155 gr. loads and these babies are sure gorgeous!

Nice looking piece! Can the rear sight be removed and a scope base be added?

The rear sight is easily removed (single allen screw) and Scope Rings are included with the Ruger Gunsite Scout.

Fun rifles. I really like mine.

Midway sells a full length rail , xs sight systems I think. It lets you mount optics wherever you please. I will snag one for mine when I can.

You will like the rifle. Mine is plenty accurate, and very handy.

Great purchase. You will love the 308 and the fun it generates. Now I fight for stock time with my two college girls when they are home from school during the summer. We use long range shooting as a family event.

Love everything about em except the long single stack mag. I wonder why ruger didn't use a double stack instead?

I tried one at the LGS and the bolt was sloppy. Is this true of them all or just the used one he had?. It's a nice looking concept.

Nice gun. I would be interested to know:

- how does it shoot compared to other 308s, and how effective is the recoil pad?

-how is the adjustment to using a forward mounted scope?

-can you comfortably use this rifle in a prone position, or on bags?

very nice rifles. i've shot one, and drooled over a few others. i think i'd go with a scout scope for it, and leave the factory rear sight in a drawer. really cool guns.

from what i've gathered, the only drawback is the proprietary magazines. it would've been nice of Ruger to design it to work with FAL magazines. just my .o2

I'd try it with some TTSX or TSX bullets. Looks like it ought to be good something that's for sure. I like the first muzzle attachment better than the second one.
