Have had a bag full of "1K 03, 5.56 X 45" Bosnian brass sitting around for quite a while. Range brass. This is the stuff with the small flash hole that hardly anyone's sizer/decapper will successfully punch the primers out of, since the pins are too large (diameter). I've been reluctant to mess about with my RCBS sizer/decapper changing pins as it's set perfectly. Someone mentioned that the Lee Universal Decapper Die would do the job and I finally got one. Voila! It works great. At $10.99 from Midway I think it was a deal. The 1K brass, excellent stuff, is worth more than that.

Well, after decapping about a dozen of those 1K cases, the "guaranteed unbreakable" pin broke off and stuck in one of the cases. I'm trying to contact Lee for resolution.

I've broke them , too. They'll send you a new one. They're a stand-up company. I bought a slug of them when they were like $3.00 a piece.:)

New pin is on the way from Lee for free. I'll update when i get it and try again.

When you get the new pin be sure not to overtighten it in the die. I have also broken one and they are supposed to just slide up if the pressure is too much. After some tinkering I believe I have mine set tight enough to deprime but in the event of a jam it will just slide up and not break like my first one. Good luck!

I think mine broke on the downstroke. The pin was stuck tightly in the flash hole.

Just so you know, the headstamp is IK 03.
The first character is an "I", as in the 9th letter of the alphabet, not the number 1.

That Lee decapper saved a bunch of HP stamped 7.62 brass for me.

I got a Lee decapper too, and I love it. I keep it locked into a LNL bushing, and right next to my SS LNL, for easy quick decapping. Also makes it really nice to not have to get out the lube and loadning block if I just need to run 2 or 3 through it.

+1 for me!

Lee kindly and quickly sent me 2 new pins. I set the die up and the pin broke on the first try. The pin is just too fat,and Lee doesn't have a skinnier one. The very small flash hole of these cases binds the pin and breaks it. I'll have to get one of the smaller RCBS pins for use with the sizer die.

Just take a grinder and make the pin a smaller diameter. put the whole pin assy in a drill and run the drill as you grind it against wheel. The pins are hardened so a file will not work. Take a brass that is already done and use it as a gauge for the size to reduce the pin to.
