Tribeca Festival Filmmaker under fire for illegally shooting, cooking deer on set of new flick, report says

Published April 18, 2012

“We are idiots. We didn’t know how to do this stuff,” DNAinfo quoted Dickson as saying. “There were so many deer weak from the winter and getting eaten by the local dogs we didn’t even think about it.”

The crew was reportedly practicing yoga together on set when someone spotted a herd of deer in a neighboring field, DNAinfo reported. One of the stars of the film, Paul Manza, 34, grabbed a rifle and pulled the trigger.

“"It was amazing to eat that meat and really feel the spirit of the animal," Manza said. "It gave me a different relationship to eating animals and animal products."

.

Don't know why the filmmaker is in trouble, he didn't pull the trigger and may not have even been on set. Looks like poor report writing.

Secondly, why did they have a rifle with live rounds on the set? I can see having a rifle with blanks, but not live rounds.

That's almost as bad as the flatlanders that come to my state and shoot cows/horses thinking they are deer. Some city dwellers just don't think about what is common sense to many of us.
