I ate a big supper last night; Mexican Food.

Just believe me when I say that the bear is not particularly in any category by himself. I will not post a pic though.

Not a true way to predict bear size. I'm 5' 10" and about 215 lbs. and have left some piles in the woods not much smaller.

Not a true way to predict bear size

Yes and no, the pile itself may not be indicative of a larger animal, "but the nuggets," those nuggets are a very good indicator of size, and if you look closely, that topside nugget is about .5 times wider then the 24oz pop bottle. A large black bear leaving his calling cards. :) I'd like to see him in the fall.

Was that important to you, dollar bill v 24oz bottle?

Apparently, there are a lot of huge black bears around, if you are basing size on scat nuggets.

It’s the diameter of the nuggets! A really BIG bear has a really big butt and it’s not uncommon for them to leave scat the diameter of a beer can behind! If you look at 10 piles of bear scat and then come across the one left by the big kahuna trust me… You’ll Know!

I guess you didn't read the link that you googled up, so I posted you a quote from it! Also, why I used the 24oz bottle, v a dollar bill? Well, I would think that was obvious, when I happened upon this scat, I used the pop bottle as a scale for the top nugget, I did this to judge the diameter of that top nuggie more accurately, holding the bottle to the nuggie as a measure of width. Top nuggie is wider then the bottom of the 24oz bottle, which is itself, wider then a twelve oz beer can!

Simple enough for you now?

Are you sure not a small cow, or horse?

I guess that you didn't understand that the examples in the links I provided show that large bear scat isn't all that uncommon. Apparently, there are a goodly number of Big Kahunas.

I take it that you missed seeing the scats that were considerably larger in nugget size than what you posted.

Not cow, but the nuggets filled with plant fibers are a good match for horse which happens to be a big animal with a big butt.

Do you just wander about the forum, looking for fights, and arguments? I've seen you doing exactly the same in a dozen or so other threads. I posted this as a bit of fun, however you do seem to think yourself some sort of arbiter of knowledge & information, which is another way of saying that you take yourself very very seriously, why so serious?

BTW, its not a horse, or even a cow, its the scat of a large north American black bear, typical for springtime. This animal wanders the blue hills of northwestern Wisconsin, which likely has the highest black bear density in the entire continental United States(40,000 + animals)including record annual harvests since 1998.

Your google-fu is weak.

As you can see, this is not a cow, and he's certainly not a horse, as expected, a very large spring bear. I'll try and develop a better(larger)image later today. ;)

This is off of a cheap "Wildgame Innovations, Red 6" trail camera set to video capture, so I had to do some snipping, nonetheless it came our very nicely, like I said, I'd sure like to see him again this autumn...

Take a close look at the date & time in the data bar, while its much more powerful on video, its still pretty damn entertaining even snipped into a still...:)

You must have not eaten the WHOLE bear.

You should see some of the scat piles I've had to detour around. They're several feet in diameter.

I believe you! I lived in the Goldstream valley for seventeen years, I saw more then a few grizzly piles larger then this guys, nonetheless for a midwestern black bear this guys pile was pretty impressive.

What's amazing to me is that bear swallowed that 24 oz bottle whole then pooped it out. And it didn't even crush the bottle!

This bear seems to have some very strange and powerful talents.
