I just took posession of a Pietta C&B it is called the Yank in .44 with
checkered thunderer grips it is a snubnose made that way from the
factory. It is new in the box with brass loading rod. It is a Colt style
pistol. The only reference I can find is that they are sold in Europe. Were any imported and sold here? Maybe I have a rare piece for the States?
Anybody have in information? Thanks Charlie

yep that would be nice otherwise i think you might be referring to a snub nose 1851. I count 3 on Cabelas web site. Pietta made a few different types of revolvers that were never really rare. If anything they just never made any money not popular enough so.... like the dodo they stopped importing them in to the U.S. now today you may think its rare buttttt chances are you would have a very hard time convincing anyone else.

I had to make mine, you see a lot with square butts, not that many with ''bird's heads''. Kaeto's looks a lot like mine, only his comes with a usable size of barrel, and a loading lever. They are a little more common now.

Flibuste in France posted twice about the original configuration of his which has a short snub nose barrel.
Then he also showed a model with a Sheriff barrel & fluted cylinder.
One is a true factory Pietta 1860 snub nose .44 with Thunderer grips which I haven't heard about being available here in the U.S., so cheatin charlie's snubbie is probably quite rare in the U.S..

I have a factory snub in .44 it just doesn't have the thunderer grips.
The extra barrel is from a different gun.

What I'm looking for is a Pietta 1860 51/2" barrel for my .44

This one is a .36 and has on the top of the barrel "The Gold Rush Begins"

I am sorry guys I tried to take photo's but cannot load onto my computer
something is screwed up. But anyway the pistol is .44 with with rebated
cylinder with a 3" octagon 1851 style barrel with thunder grips. It comes with a brass rod with mushroomed head for loading. I just looked at the
Pietta manual that came with it and it is written in Italian and looks like
Spanish no English translation. The pistol was donated by Pietta for a
door prize and I bought it from the winner. If you Google this

you will see what I have. That is all I know but it is a neat piece! I
feel lucky to have it.

I picked this one up a few years back. I'm considering converting it to a birdshead grip. It's a Pietta.

Mine is converted from a Pietta .36, with a Uberti ''Thunderer'' grip and grip frame from VTI on it. It's my ''Puberti''...you can see a picture of it in the earlier ''Snubnose'' or ''Avenging Angels'' threads.
